I was browsing around a firearms website looking at some of the guns there when I came across this weapon.

It's an American made Calico M960 submachine gun.

Here's the webpage for it:
http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg57-e.htm

I could have sworn that I've seen this gun in a movie but I can't remember which film.
It kind of looks like the laser rifles in Spaceballs but I'm sure I've seen it in another movie.
Anybody know?

I think it has popped up in others, but "Time Runner" is one:

(Not a perfect match with your picture, but very close - I'm guessing it could be a variant.)

 Smile Hi Ash.

I could be way wrong, but I'm sure that I saw some of the bad guys in Total Recall use guns like this.

I'm the son of a soldier, I should know my arms, but the only arms I know really are what my hands are attached to.  TeddyR

Total Recall was going to be my guess, as well.

I loved Andrew's comment on Stuff To Watch For on Time Runner:

23 minutes:........................"Yeah, that's it. What are you looking at? You have a better hypothesis?"

The Calico arms .22 cal (those suckers come with 100 round + 50 round magazines IIRC) pistols/rifles have been in a LOT of movies.  Usually low budget sci-fi.  They look "futuristic" and, being .22 cal, are probably cheap to rent/buy to use as movie props.

Now the real question is which was the FIRST movie that the weapon appeared in?!?

I was thinking that this gun was in Total Recall too.
So last night I popped the DVD in and watched the first half of the movie.

It isn't the same gun.
They look kind of similar...but different.

What about the gun in the Dolph Lundgren flick, I Come In Peace (aka Dark Angel)? What did it look like?

Was it Jack Deth's gun in the first Trancers movie?
