We're all just victims of circumstance

Yes the mentally disturbed,  brain-removing, power stealing Sylar (Zachary Quinto) from the series Heroes  is apparently a couple of signatures away from being cast as Spock in JJ Abrams Star Trek movie which is supposed to start filming this fall.

I have one question. How does Sylar steal the powers? Does he actually eat the brains?

A good bad movie is like popcorn for the soul!

Fascinating.  So they are going to do a remake of the ORIGINAL Star Trek series with new actors in the classic roles?  I feel a great disturbance in the Force . . . (oops!  Wrong series! See what I mean?)

Sylar as Spock!?  That's great!  I know a lot of people will have a problem with it, but Quinto was fantastic as Sylar.  He was cold, calculating and seems to me to be a good fit as Spock.

I have a feeling that if JJ has his way, we will also see Alias/Heroes actor Greg Grunberg appear at some point in the casing as JJ is a big fan of his.

Apparently, one of the reasons Sylar was cast, was that he--apparently--looks alot like Leonard Nimoy. And, Leonard Nimoy said that he'll put on the ears, at least one more time, and come back as Spock. While the part of Kirk hasn't been cast yet, the last I heard, it is though that William Shatner may come back as Kirk. Film set to be released next year around Christmas time.

Fascinating. In any case, he has this detached-yet-interested-stare thing down. And I can see him very well doing a Vulcan neck pinch.

Do they have someone in mind for Bones McCoy?

Would Harve Bennett have approved of this, I wonder?  Question

He wanted to make a similar film  in 1990 that would have preceded STV1 involving Kirk going back to the StarFleet Academy and addressing the class of the future and telling them in flashback, how things all started between him, Bones and Spock, his long lost love and it would have ended with Spock and Kirk meeting at Kirk's long lost love's graveside, the two embracing and the final shot would have been Scotty beaming them up to the Enterprise, ready for another mission.

As William Shatner tells it in Star Trek Movie Memories it would have packed quite an emotional wallop but Paramount wanted a classic adventure for the 25th Anniversary, Paramount boss Marvin Davis freaked and demanded one too, Bennett was offered a huge deal to make a classic adventure and refused, then left when his contract expired.

As a Trekkie / Trekker from way back, I would have loved to see this.  Smile
