Well, this is interesting.  I was cruising around on various news sites and I found this: a comprehensive list of ALL the female teachers who've made headlines within the past couple of years or so for various uh, "misconduct" with students.

What's interesting is several of teachers were alleged to have done things involving FEMALE students.  I say "interesting" because I'm willing to bet those stories didn't get that much media attention for fear of being accused of painting certain groups in a bad light.  Ironically enough, many of teachers accused of things involving female students taught gym class, but I'm sure that's just a coincidence..

Anyway, what's crazy is the list feature over ONE HUNDRED teachers. DAMN!  What the hell is going on?  According to some research I've done, the whole female teacher molesting students is actually MORE prevalent than Catholic Priests who've been accused of molesting children (even though, neatly enough, these stories aren't getting as much press as the Priests stories do.)

I'm suppose the first reaction to a lot of older guys when they look at some of these pictures, is like, "Oh yeah, I would have loved for that teacher to give me some extra 'tutoring' ha, ha!"  But seriously, you gotta wonder if this is really getting out of hand or maybe it's being more discovered and reported than in previous years.

Dunno...

Anyway, if you're curious, you can check out the list at http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=53859

Yes as a red blooded American male my first reaction is "WTF? Some of those women are HOT! (Some are scary.) and if they are in need of little extra credit I can help." Then I think "WFT? What the hell is wrong with these women, I rarely here of a male teacher getting busted for this anymore? How long has this been going on?"

I remember over 20 years ago when I was in High School I'd here rumors that this or that FEMALE teacher was having sex with this or that student, I marked it up as BS rumors and gossip and it wasn't true. Now years later I wonder if they were true .... makes you go hmmm?

Then again ... as a man I think were the hell were all these predatory sex starved women at when I was in the dating world? Hell, I had to work for every thing I got, know what mean, know what I mean, nudge, nudge. I think the entire thing is hard for men to get their brain around, as men it's are job, our goal, our mission to go out there and pursue and conquer as many women as possible often with very little luck. And it's the women job, mission, goal to make it as hard and difficult as possible and you've got decent looking women like  Amy McElhenny, Carrie O'Conner, Christine Spaich, Debra LaFave, Pamela Rogers Turner and others giving it away to children. FREAKS!

Interestingly I have  movie I rented this week called "To Die For" with Nicole Kidman about the teacher
Pamela Smart (Pamela Smart, 22: Media-services director at Winnacunnet High School in Hampton, N.H., had convinced her 15-year-old lover to murder her husband. She was arrested in 1993 and is now serving a life sentence.) FREAK and B!TCH!

Going to get the duct tape my head is going to explode.

When I was a senior, I had a teacher who had just gone through a divorce. At one point when it was just the two of us going over some school work and talking about teen issues, she advised me that one of the best ways to deal with stress was to get laid. Then she said she could help me in that department. To this day, I don't know if she meant she was going to set me up with some loose friend of hers or take teaching to a whole new level. I never brought up the subject again, so I guess I will never know. Doesn't matter anyway. To my sensibilities at the time, she was old (mid 30's ) and not attractive. There was no way I'd have done anything.

Wow.. that's like... creepy I guess.

What's interesting is I'm told one of the ladies on this list (can't remember) said she was doing the thing she does because back when she was in high school none of the boys found her attractive, and this was like her "recapturing her youth" kind of thing.

But, yeah, that's crazy for a teacher to tell you that.

Yes, well, the article you've posted is apparently regularly updated. (I saw this list back in 2005 or so, I believe, and there have been some new additions since then.) Impressive as it may seem, it's worth remembering that there are millions of teachers in the USA; if one tenth of one percent of them were screwing kids, the deviants would number in the thousands. If you're paying attention, some of the teachers mentioned are also from the UK. It's not too difficult to find hundreds of people who are into ANY two kinds of activity at once (such as teaching and molesting) in such a huge population.

We don't have a list of male teachers who've molested children to compare against this list either, though I can assure you there continue to be some; one such was arrested in a city near me last year. Men don't get quite as much press because the viewing public is already used to the idea that some male teachers molest their students. WND drew up this list specifically because that same public is usually unaware that a number of women have also molested students. There is some trouble worth mentioning, in other words, but it's not exactly a full-blown epidemic yet.

That's not to underplay the individual cases, of course: female teachers molesting boys have done some real psychological damage to them, and a just society does need to deal with such things. I'm just saying there are threats facing them that are far more common and widespread than lecherous female teachers. (Indeed, on a personal note, I'd say the crappy quality of teaching that goes on in these schools has ruined the lives of far more kids than these sensational crimes have. None of my teachers ever went for me sexually, but I can think of a good many who made my time in school thoroughly miserable, and might have driven me to suicide with their cruelty if my parents hadn't taken me out and homeschooled me.)

That is an interesting story you tell, Shadow. Whether she was going for you herself or not, I would definitely say your teacher was giving you some rotten advice. If you check that list BTM linked, you'll notice that some of the teachers pictured there are pretty aged and homely too. It must have taken a fair amount of liquor or smoking or something to cloud their victims' judgment enough to get them to agree to any of this stuff. Maybe your teacher simply lacked the opportunities some of these teachers had; for every one who goes to jail, I'll bet there are a lot of wannabes who just keep striking out.

There were rumors floating around my high school that a certain teacher was helping out the morale of the football team - or selected members of it.  This teacher also happened to be the Mom of one of my best friends.  She was a very sexy lady.

Two stories:

(1) One day, she was wearing a nice, low key dress.  I was sitting in the front row and during class, while she was talking, started at her feet and S-L-O-W-L-Y let my eyes roam upwards.  The entire 'scan' probably took about 7-8 seconds, if not longer.  When I got to her face, she had stopped talking, was looking right at me and was smiling.  That was when I realized that I actually could NOT make myself disappear to hide my embarrassment.

(2) On another day, I was over at their house after school.  I had to use the bathroom and the 'main' one must have been occupied bacause she hollered from the bedroom that I could come use the one in there.  "Okay," I figured, "this sounds safe and innocent enough."  When I went in there, she was lying on the bed, on her stomach, watching tv - wearing nothing but panties.

Now, I don't know if the rumors were true - I kinda hope they weren't.  But, I could see how they might be.  She definitely enjoyed at the very least flirting with teen-aged boys.  She was a good teacher, too, by the way.

A teacher at my old high school had to be let go about two or so years ago for inappropriate conduct.  Not sure what he did, but I'm pretty sure it was one of his students.   BounceGiggle

Anyone see the film "Notes On A Scandal"?  It deals with this very topic.

On another side note, my friend recently started dating one of his students, but considering he is a tutor at uni and she is two or three years younger than him I would say that hardly counts at all.  Especially since she's 20 and they went out after he finished teaching her.

But yeah, everyone had 'those' imaginations when it came to their teachers.  I was talking to a friend about crazy travel stories, and I started talking about a trip to Indonesia I had.  I went with my friend and he went to a different school than me [it was an All-Boy school] and the two teachers [youngish, blonde and female] taking care of us took us to a couple of clubs [though we weren't allowed to drink] and dared us to dance with girls.

They also told us after one museum trip that when we got back to where we were staying, that they would buy us all blowjobs.  They elaborated shortly after that they meant 'blow dry and hair cuts at a nice place down from our motel,' but you can certainly see that things could have easily got out of hand if they weren't responsible enough.

Oh and ulthar?  That's a great story.  To some people that could be the 'dream' when you're a young lad.  But that's an odd situation to be in regardless.

Wow, some hard choices you must have made that day. At your friends house, a high school age student, the mother of your friend, and you were surprised enough not to of had a plan for such a meeting. Was she still there when you came out of the bathroom? Just curious.  TeddyR

Oh, I understand, I don't believe it's an epidemic of teachers going around screwing kids or anything, just found the article interesting.

Willing to bet you dollars to donuts male teachers usually end up getting harsher sentences.  It's amazing how many female teachers do this (especially if they look attractive) and everyone just kind of goes, "Ahhh. .just give her probation, no biggie!"

That's not to underplay the individual cases, of course: female teachers molesting boys have done some real psychological damage to them, and a just society does need to deal with such things. Ironically, as soon as you said, "there are threats facing them that are far more common and widespread than lecherous female teachers. " I was going to say, "Yeah, like how s**tty public schools are in general", but you beat me to it!

Well, when it comes to some teenage boys, water is like sex, no matter how bad it is, as long as it's wet, they'll drink it.

kudos for the guy mentioning Pam Smart.  I am up on the NH border of Mass and we know this case very well up here.

Some of these women ARE hot!

I wonder what the sentences would have been had the suspects been male that committed these crimes?

It is worth considering that there are literally millions of teachers in the USA, and that a list of 100 offenders is a fraction of 1% of the whole.

I remember being really shocked when a friend from Denmark was telling me she was in a relationship with her tutor at college. When she saw my reaction she proceeded to tell me about how in her country there weren't as many hangups about teacher/student relationships (and they were both over the age of consent). The relationship did not go well, and it turned out he was abusing his position to have sex with many of the female students.
