Wasn't anything on TV a few days ago and it was a toss up between KIMORA: LIFE IN THE FAB LANE and p***yCAT DOLLS: THE NEXT DOLL. Kimora won out and I watched two episodes.

I've seen the promos for this show. I think I'd rather watch paint dry.  Wink

I didn't think I'd ever watch such a show, but I had fun watching it. In fact I found it just fabulous. Shadow you should sit down and watch a marathon. I'll let you know when they have one. Smile

Haven't seen it, no cable, after all. But I remember seeing her on some syndicated The View retread a few years ago with some typical female TV personalities, Life & Style, I think it was called. She came off as the dumbest, snootiest, and most hsallow of the hosts, and that says something with that bunch.

Is she known for anything other than being hot (former model right?) and being married to (at one time anyway) to Russell Simmons?

Yaddo, how you doing? Hadn't seen you on the forum lately.

About Kimora, she is also the creator of Baby Phat. A name that I have no interest in, but she is actually a real go-getter. I just wonder if she knows how to turn it off when she wants to be normal. I think she does. Found her show kinda funny because of the stuff you mentioned and watched a few episodes.

Yeah, my time on the forum has been reduced lately, for good and bad reasons. Summer was busy and mostly fun, more social life for one thing. Lately been busy with work, taking a college class (Elementary Arabic, I should be studying right now actually), and some outside stuff trying to sort out my next step or two jobwise. Stress, disappointments in the personal life area, getting restless with my new job already, and some depression issues have surfaced again as well.

I've been around, mostly in the Off Topic areas and in the Humorous Captions area. Been in a bit of a funk for the past month, see the previous paragraph. Coming up with stuff for the Captions threads distracts me, plus I can use the laughs.

My movie viewing is kinda low right now, good and bad movies actually. I made the mistake of trying to watch Invasion of the Pod People, last night. Dull, even with a fair amount of naked womenfolk. My flick picking-fu needs retraining.

Thanks for the info on Kimora, I was under the impression that even Baby Phat was more of Russell's creation, and she was just the trophy wife. Then again hip hop culture isn't my thing, I'm too uncool and too old to take that stuff serious except as an economic powerhouse in our culture. The kids like, but I await the day they see how frivolous it really is just like the stuff I thought was cool when I was in the target age range for clothing, music, etc.

Ah, trading in movies for a social life? No way ! ! ! Social life is way over rated as are many movies.  TeddyR

Yea, I tend to stay around the Good Movies, Bad Movies, Off Topic, and occasionally Television catagories.

My flick picking-fu needs retraining.
Without flick picking-fu skills this could land anybody into a funk. Always research, research research.............

About Kimora, it probably was Kimora's husbands creation. Not really sure about all that. The show caught my interest for some reason. I like the fact that she is of mixed parents and you can see bits of both in her physically and attitude wise.

The social life has tapered off again, circumstances rather than my choice. But I enjoyed the change for the better, maybe I can get it going again soon, I'm not in as deep of a hole as I had to pull myself out of the last time. Just need to get back up and start generating some forward momentum again.

After sizing up the DVD collection at the college library today, I may kill two birds with one stone. Good movies to pick from, and lots of them, bypassing my weakened fu. I can fill in some holes in stuff I've wanted to see, and take some chances on stuff I've only heard of or just sounds interesting.

On the other show I saw Kimora on a few years ago, its level of discussion (shallow thought it was) actually seemed to improve when she wasn't there. This was during one of my insomnia periods, when I would watch anything I thought would bore me to sleep, instead my inner TV critic would come out, overanalyzing anything I watched. I even figured out the appeal of Teletubbies once and managed to explain it to my cousin and his wife when they were wondering what their daughter saw in it.

It's always a pleasure to find that rare obscure film that nobody knows about. A couple examples of this for me are THE ROYAL HUNT FOR THE SUN and TEMPTATION OF A MONK. There are many more, but these come to mind.

Definitely. They've got stuff I've missed seeing so how Kwaidan, the Canadian comedy series Slings & Arrows that I've only heard about (I've been a Paul Gross fan ever since Due South), and even a few titles from Tokyo Shock. Also a nice batch of art house stuff from the Criterion Collection. I really need to make the most of having access to them, in case I don't take another class next semester.

No prob, Trevor, the thread was pretty played out. Good to hear from you, I'm enjoying your recent threads about SA films. Plus it like a small window onto a new world for me, since I must confess I've heard of few of the films you've posted about lately.

I'm on here a bit more lately, I'm kind of in flux with work, school, and trying to get out among people again. Plus my movie watching is very reduced right now, but this week has picked up some. Although I notice my karma seems to go up more when I'm gone for most of a week at a time. Guess my funny caption posts get better with age or something.
