I had one of the few defective Wiis with a graphics card that overheats.  Sigh... I had to send it in today, right after finally buying Resident Evil 4.  I was so stoked to play it!

Of course, Virtual Console just has to throw salt in the wound and release Landstalker.  At least it'll always be there.

My 360 fell victim to the "red circle of death," which Xbox customer support misdiagnosed as a faulty power supply and then proceeded to screw up mailing me a replacement for three weeks.  After finally receiving a replacement power supply it turned out that it was the console all along.  I'm currently awaiting my replacement console and have been without a working 360 for a little over a month.

Despite that, I am still a fan of the Xbox 360.  Not so much Microsoft.

I'd not heard of the problem with the graphics card, I'm assuming there are a few people who've had this then?

It's actually not a common problem with Wiis.  It's only the first wave/launch ones.  They've already fixed the problem in the new ones.

I was wondering where you had been Mofo because I hadn't seen you online on Xbox Live for weeks.

About that power supply thing...
I think the reps who take calls for Xbox 360 have little to no training.
If I were to guess, I'd say that they MAYBE get a week of in-class training.  No more.

The rep I spoke to when I got the red rings of death immediately suggested that it was my power supply.
But because I had already done my research online, I knew that when you see those red rings, it means your Xbox is shot.  Done.  Kaput.
It got to the point where as soon as I pressed the power button, the red rings appeared.
This woman wouldn't listen to me when I tried to explain to her that it wasn't the power supply.
She kept insisting that I check it.

I must've wrangled with her for 10 minutes on the phone before I finally had to tell her out of pure frustration, "It ISN'T my power supply!"
She finally relented and had me send it in.
They replaced it with a brand new console.

And Mofo, they gave me a free 1 month Xbox Live timecard for my trouble.
If they don't send one with your replacement console, I'd call them back and ask for one.
Hell, with all the trouble you've gone through, they should hook you up with a 3 month timecard.

Yeah, they said they'd send the month of Live.

Thing with the power supply is that I sent off mine, after I argued with the people about having to pay for the shipping to no avail.  They sent me back the brick with no power cord.  I called again and they shipped me a power cord, but it was the wrong one (two prongs, needed three).  I finally received the correct power cord, but still three red rings.

At this point I have actually had a broken 360 longer than a working one.

Oh well, hopefully it will arrive soon.  I've got your Call of Duty 3 coming to me from Gamefly.

I had a crappy day today then had terrible customer service at dinner and in order to cheer myself up, walked into the local retailer on my way home, totally prepared to buy a Wii, a game or two and whatever else I might need.

They didn't have any. Hatred

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

My wife actually paid our friend's son $50 to drive about 20 miles and pick up a Wii for us, that's in addition to the purchase price of the Wii system. It's been a lot of fun, kind of different to have to move the remote and nun-chuk to do stuff in the game you're playing. Right now I'm playing a game called Red Steel, has a lot of sword fights, both my arms are sore. Poogie finds it very entertaining to watch me waving my arms around while yelling at the TV. Looking forward to playing Metroid 3 Corruption next.

Yeah, as much as I love the folks at Nintendo, they're being complete a$$holes with their supply and demand dog and pony show with the Wii. The thing is hugely popular and they're only releasing so many into the market so they can keep riding the hype machine that is "it's been almost a year since the system was released and they're STILL selling out everywhere!". Again, I love the company, I'm so glad to see them killing everyone else in the current console wars, the fact that Nintendo products account for 75% of the hardware sales in Japan gives me fanboy afterglow, and the Wii is (and likely will be) the only system that I sat in near freezing cold weather for 14 hours just so I could buy it for full price on release day (I'm the guy who always waits for the first or second price drop before buying a system), but seriously Nintendo, put enough systems into the market so other people can enjoy the fruits of your labor!  Hatred

Huzzah!  I just checked the status on my Wii, and it said "shipping."  This means I should hopefully get it back next week, hopefully before I start vacation.
