Anubis, I sent you a long overdue PM.

My upcoming ten (not the ones I have at home):

1. The Passenger (1975)
2. Silent Movie (1976) - A Mel Brooks movie I haven't seen.
3. Bob Saget: That Ain't Right (2007) - Eh.  We'll see.
4. The X-Files: Season 3 - Disc 1 (1995)
5. The Case of the Bloody Iris (1961) - Another "giallo."
6. Deathdream (1974) - This zombie book recommended this movie.
7. The Quiet Earth (1985) - I like this movie.
8. Show Me Love (1999) - Also known as "f**king Amal," charming movie about Swedish lesbian schoolgirls.  Seriously, it's charming.
9. Cope (2006) - Eh.  It came from Alaska, like myself.  (Bet you it's secretly Canadian.)
10. The Rocketeer (1991) - Haven't seen this movie in fifteen years.  I'm wondering what it's really like.

EDIT: It's a good thing this stops at ten, because number 11 is none other than Xanadu!  I predict pain.

My screen name is Mofo Rising, like here.  PM me and I'll add you as a friend.  I've actually got quite a few badmovies people in my friend's list, but I'm sad to say I'm no longer sure who all of them are.

At the moment I'm winding down the collection since I seem to be hanging onto discs way too long, and not returning them.

I tend to use Quickflix [our version here of netflix I suppose] to rent titles that are harder to find at stores, or if I was browsing happened to find and thought I'd like to watch.  Usually this means it's a lot of anime series and the like.

My list as it stands:

1. Breakdance 2 Electric Boogaloo
2. Sunshine [though I may just rent this if it doesn't come through in the next week or so]
3. The Wanderers
4. Samurai Champloo the series
5. Condorman

Further down the list is a smattering of exploitation films and Russ Meyer films like Vixens, and the old cartoon M.A.S.K.  In total I have about 30 on the list.

Mofo,

Deathdream is great.   Thumbup  It's a film that really really makes me miss Bob Clark.  It's not a typical zombie flick and is well worth watching.

It was recommended to me by The Book of the Dead, a surprisingly scholarly overview of zombie cinema from its inception to present.  I picked it up from the library, and it's well worth your time, if not your money.

Necromantik is certainly unique.  I haven't seen it in a few years but once was enough for me.  It's not bad exactly, just.......unique.

Oldboy is a classic and the best film you have in your list.  To be honest, I'd recommend moving that all the way up the list to the top.  It's unbelievably good.  Oh Daesu is such an awesome character and the various twists in the film are top notch.

Well, I just got a message from Netlfix saying that Necromantik has been removed because they don't have enough copies to meet demand and are unable to acquire any more. So I guess I ain't seeing that one any time soon.

Taking your advice, Oldboy got bumped to the top of the queue.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

Zodiac - Awesome.  Great procedural flick.  Gyllenhall is great as Greysmith and it's surprisingly true to the facts of the Zodiac case.  Everything in the film is spot on to the way it actually happened.  That's certainly a rare thing now.

Perfume - I have this one on DVD but have yet to watch it.  It looked very good from the previews.

Extras - Season 1 is good, but I HIGHLY recommend watching the second season as soon as you finish the first.  The second season is absolutely classic.  Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais are comedy geniuses.  The episode in season 2 with David Bowie is one of the funniest things to hit TV in a long time.

Undead - Decent zombie flick.  I had conversations with the directors when I was an Admin on a major horror site before spending most of my time here.  The guys were great, and serious horror fans but their film just wasn't as good as it should been.

The Bridge - Good film, highly disconcerting.  The director recorded real suicides from the Golden Gate Bridge and then talks to the families of the deceased.  It's certainly worth watching but feels a little dirty by the end of it.

Also, how does one add someone to their friends on Netflix just by the username?  I'm only used to adding people by their email address.

Shadow,

That's a shame.  If someone has the stomach for the film, then Necromantik is certainly an experience.  If you're really interested in seeing it, then I would recommend the DVD if you're able to find a copy for sale.  I wouldn't recommend it to the average moviegoer but I know that our patronage to this site automatically rules us out as one of those.

Enjoy Oldboy.  DO NOT READ ANY REVIEWS of the film before seeing it.  It has some of the best twists I have ever seen.  Seriously, it's probably in my top ten films of all time and certainly my favorite Asian film.  That's saying a lot.

Ah, the eternal struggle that is Shakes the Clown.  It's not really a good enough movie to watch if you haven't been drinking.  However, if you have been drinking it also includes some of the worst, most brainscraping hangover scenes ever put to film.

Shakes the Clown.

God damn it! Take this advice!  Go in completely blind.

Oldboy is one of my all time favorite movies.  I feel like Park Chan Wook is the most exciting director working today.  His follow ups haven't been as good, but when you have to follow up Oldboy, you're filling a tall order.

I have Shakes on the list for an upcoming Roundtable.  It's been some time since I've seen it but I used to love it.  Hopefully it holds up.

I have one review that I wrote for National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon I, which is to say, no.

Netflix has a weird system for finding friends.  All kind of patched together.

I do love rating movies at Netflix though.  I rate everything I see, except for movies which aren't in their database.  I think I might be addicted.

Also, I second the Oldboy recommendations.  I would also recommend Chan-wook Park's other films, especially Lady Vengeance, and other South Korean films.  Some of the best movies I've seen in recent years have been from South Korea.

I wasn't as into Lady Vengeance as Oldboy.  I certainly liked it, but I was expecting so much more.  I was so excited that I preordered the Korean special edition from Yes Asia and got that sweet pack that comes with the "fade to black" version where from start to finish, the movie gradually fades to black and white.  Cool concept, never watched it.  I find his movies to be so intense that I can only bring myself to watch them once in a great while with the exception of Oldboy that I have shown to a million people.  Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance is also excellent and Joint Security Area nearly made me cry in the end.

I've been flirting with ordering I'm Sorry I'm A Cyborg recently, but I've heard that it's not particularly good.  I'm waiting for news on his next movie.

Also worth looking up on Netflix is Volcano High School.  Beware of an American release called Volcano High that was has dubbed dialog by Big Boy, Andre 3000 and Snoop Dog.  It's dumb.  Also see Arahan, a great super hero flick.

I agree with what everyone else has said, Park is great.  Mr. Vengeance is good, JSA is great and Oldboy is in a league of it's own.  I have Lady Vengeance on DVD but have yet to watch it.  I did feel that his portion of 3 Extremes was very good despite most others thinking it was less than stellar.
