... for some reason.  I didn't like it much the first time.  Perhaps it was more compelling than I thought.

Anyway, I came to the realization that Thomasin probably isn't Katherine's daughter, but Thomas's love child with another woman.  Take a look at her name: "Thomas's Sin".  Katherine obviously doesn't like Thomasin much if at all, obviously favoring the other kids.  Thomas, on the other hand, seems to favor Thomasin.  He's the one who wants to sell her to another family, which would most likely save her life while the rest of the family starved to death on the farm.  It could even be that she was a child conceived of sin that allows the Devil (or whatever Black Phillip was supposed to be there at the end) to get his hooks into the family.
