You know, I've seen two other non-Blob films where someone pokes something with a stick and pays the price: In Toho's "Space Amoeba," Kenji Sahara's character, Makoto Obata, pokes at the titular space creature with a stick. It soon engulfs his body, invades his mind, and takes control of him. A similar situation occurs in "Slither" when Grant Grant (Michael Rooker) pokes a slug-like creature with a stick and gets hit with a mutation-causing "harpoon" for being an annoyance. Sheesh, you'd think that after the Blob came out, people would realize that you shouldn't poke anything strange with a stick, including "meteor s**t."
