So what new shows have people taken a look at? This past week I watched the premieres of Chuck, Journeyman, Life, The Bionic Woman and Reaper. My quick take so far:

Chuck: Interesting, but I wonder how it could be maintained for multiple seasons before the premise wears thin.

Journeyman: Has potential but right now seems too derivative.

The Bionic Woman: I'm gonna give this one more time to impress me, though after one episode I have offically claimed the gorgeous Michelle Ryan as MINE.

Life: Again potential, but the whole quest to solve his case can only be dragged out for so long.

Reaper: This one was kinda funny! Because this is the CW and lower ratings are more acceptable, I can see this one lasting longer than many other new shows this year. Maybe.

Anyone else watch these or other new shows?

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

The Bionic Woman has some potential if the writing is strong.

Only new show I checked out was Reaper.  Looks fairly promising.  I did see a few minutes of that Gossip Girl show, but I doubt I'd watch that.

Although, I want to see Pushing Daisies.  Looks promising.  Cavemen I'll watch, but looks to be fairly terrible.

NBC has actually held my attention so far this year.  Normally I switch around between new series but I've been locked there so far.

Here are my thoughts:

Chuck:Fun show!  It has a hot chick, Adam Baldwin and is a show about what I pretty much do for a living.  Chuck is the manchild that a lot of us computer geeks are.  That said, I didn't much care for the direction of the first episode.  Not surprising it was directed by McG.  I will keep watching the show if only for the geeky subject matter.

Journeyman:Hmmm....  Not sure yet how I feel about this show.  The pilot tried to cram way too much into a single hour.  You get very little characterization with Dan or anyone else in the show.  I'm hoping it'll slow down and get a little better.  I was entertained by the show though, and did like watching the characters that Dan is trying to save change over the years.  Also, am I crazy or was Meatloaf his boss?

Bionic Woman:Meh.  It's better than I expected but I just couldn't get into it.  Once again, it's a pilot so I'll give it a pass for the time being and watch a few more episodes.  My wife absolutely loved it so I'm sure I'll be watching it no matter what my opinion ends up being.  Michelle Ryan is a surprise here as I have not seen her in the past (that I can remember) but she is smoking hot!  I think the main thing that put me off about the show was the fight in the end.  It seemed too cheesy and didn't work well for me.  I do have to say though that it's good to see Miguel Ferrer in a primetime show.

Life:Hadn't expected to watch this one but there was nothing else really worth watching on at the time.  I'm surprised at the fact that I really like this one.  I thought the first case was pretty good, and Charlie had some good lines in the episode that made me chuckle.  I really like the character and am wondering whether or not he was actually guilty of the crime.  The show is steering in the direction that he is not at all guilty but I wonder if there won't be a twist by the end of the season.  I've already put a season pass for this one on the DVR so I have to give it my approval.

I do want to see Reaper, but Eureka is on at the same time.  This week is the finale of Eureka so I'll catch up with Reaper after that.

I hadn't heard it but I figured it probably would be picked up again.  It's really a great show which I'm very surprised about.  I've been meaning to start a thread on here about it, especially after the insane events of the previous episode.

I watched a little bit of the Bionic Woman.  Two words:  1)  b***hy.  2)  Whiny.

Stargate Atlantis had a fairly good season premiere.  They could have moved the plot along a bit more, but other than that it was pretty good.

Watched a little bit of that new vampire show but it was very cliched and I wasn't really interested.

Beyond the PBS WAR documentary series...nothing new at all. In fact...I can't recall having watched a new sit-com or drama series in years.

BBC America is airing the Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood. It features Captain Jack Harkness, briefly a companion for the Christopher Eccleston Doctor, as the leader of a group in Cardiff who defend Earth with salvaged alien technology. The actress who played Saffy's near-beer addict Asian friend in Absolutely Fabulous is in it.

Not nearly as much fun yet as the good Doctor (the stories seem to be mostly riffs on recent Doctor Who plots), but the Cyberwoman featured in the most recent episode was appropriately sexy/goofy looking.
