anyone seen this?

Dazed & Confused is one of my favourite films and  Stoned Age  seems to get compared to it a lot except everyone says Stoned Age is better - well going from little one line reviews I've seen (like literally "Better than Dazed & Confused!!!" for example), which I find hard to believe. but I haven't seen it, so basically has anyone seen this movie and how would you rate it.

I'm not real into drug humor, so I didn't find it THAT funny, but it did have its moments.  The hot blonde girl that the two guys were chasing was very cute, and the closing scene with Frankie Avalon was pretty funny.  It's worth watching, I guess.  It's been a few years since I saw it; there may have been some other hilarious stuff that I have forgotten.

I haven't seen it in years, but I remember it being a very cute little movie.  It's about two dudes - one clueless but he's kind of the "leader", the other a bit smarter but he's the one who never gets the girl.  They've got a bit bottle of schnappes.  They show up at the house of two girls - one hot and fairly brainless / self absorbed, the other homely but smart.  The clueless dude ends up with the hot babe, and the other guy ends up talking to the homely girl all night.  A nice little slice of Americana.

I remember seeing Dazed and Confused but it didn't leave any sort of impression on me at all.  The Stoned Age at least has it's little niche, and fills it well, but I though Dazed and Consed was just lost in a slew of much better movies from the early '80s.

Awesome movie!

I own it on DVD, love it and have watched it many times.    Smile
I've never understood why it's always compared to Dazed & Confused.
Other than the fact that it's set in the 70's, has young guys trying to get drunk, stoned and laid, it's absolutely nothing like D&C.

Matter of fact, Skaboi and I were planning to write a joint review of this film.
He told me recently that he sat down and watched it so hopefully we'll make that happen soon and post it here.
I've got the review started, meaning I've got the cast of characters done, the Things I Learned From This Movie part done and a few other things.  The only part missing is the central review.
We were going to do a video review for it but I'm not sure if that'll happen with this particular film or not.

Either way, it's a great movie and our review should turn out pretty good.   Thumbup

Yep, like Ash said, he recommended the flick and I recently got a chance to watch it.  It's a pretty good flick, and I'm surprised I'd not seen it  before now.

Sure, there will always be comparisons between this film and Dazed And Confused.  They were both about the 70s, both about youth and the need to get high, and they were made about the same time.  Of the two, I do prefer Dazed, but they are two completely different films.  I've always loved drug counter-culture films, so this one was right up my alley.

Stoned Age has quite a few funny portions, and I thought that Jill (China Kantner) was extremely cute and well worth watching the film for.  Also, this film has one of the most gratuitous camel toe shots in the history of film.

I plan on watching it another time around before getting down into a review.  I'd like to go through it again and see what I find new the second time around; things I missed the first time.

Overall - Good film.  Funny, low budget flick.

Skaboi, IM me your e-mail address and I'll send you what I have so far for the review.
Maybe we can get it written and posted by either this weekend or the next.

ha, nice... sometimes I forget there are actual reviews here I just check the boards mostly!

so 'Stay Stoned' has a 'plot' then? which dazed and confued didn't have at all, so it can't be that similar...I got the impresion it was another school's-out/partying type movie with loads of  random characters and whatever... thanks for the info anyway, still want to see this. might order it in from somewhere. it's not the kind of thing you'd find on DVD easily near where I live. if it's even in print? I'm hampered by not being able to purchase stuff off the net...
