When Betty Boop is knocked up by all 5 of the three stooges and every freak in Monty Python's Flying Circus...this is the fetus she leaves in the dumpster.

Tell me it's already been reviewed here, I'm barely restraining myself from using the above link and a catalog of its lessons and random acts of violence are all that'll keep me from forcing it upon my friends.   Buggedout

Believe it or not, they are actually getting around to making a sequel to Forbidden Zone, titled "The Sixth Element" (no relation to the bruce willis movie) in which danny elfman will once again play satan. Unfortunately, it's going to be all about scientology, and why the psychiatric profession is evil.

Did you know those two boxing guys were in Weird Al's opus, UHF?

They play the two strange guys with long noses and canes during the wacky telethon.

here's my review from netflix. I gave it 5 stars:

This is like a "Rocky Horror Picture Show" for people who hate the Rocky Horror Picture Show. It's not the type of thing I usually would watch. It moves very fast for one. I'm more of a bunch of 70's people sitting in a jungle being stalked by a satanic....skull or something. You know, something laid back like that. This is a musical that fortunately features alot of slapstick violence and nudity. and don't forget the incomparable Herve Villechaize. Then you've got a frog butler, a human chandelier, and the delightful Frenchy who is somehow french while the rest of her family isn't. I had to pause it quite a bit because so much happens, kind of like salsa music It's like "aahh slow down". But there is a good base of dark humor and punk attitude that makes it a unique and enjoyable viewing experience.

That film has little to do with Forbidden Zone. It was made by the same director, and that's it.

There is a sequel coming, but that's not it.

I sure hope so. Seriously though...there have to be 'members' who are just willing to pay for a very inside joke.

This was posted to Richard Elfman's blog:

Did I tell you that I had always intended Forbidden Zone as a color film? The plan was to shoot it black and white, ship it to China, have the frames hand-tinted, get that exact “arty” effect I was looking for, and…

Not the most practical plan. But who’s “practical” when enraptured on a crazed art mission? Anyway, Legend straightened everything out and I’m very proud of Forbidden Zone in Color (and digitally remastered with six-track stereo).

The trailer for the colorized version can be viewed here: http://www.buzzine.com/2008/06/richard-elfman-video-clips/

That is not a sequel to "Forbidden Zone" and it is not about Scientology. The film is called "Brave New Rosenberg."

Lagomorphs: menace or underutilized resource?

The Forbidden Zone is one of my personal favorites. I put it in when I need to find my "happy place" again, as it never fails to cheer me up. I've heard the rumors of a sequel, but personally, I hope it is never made. Elfman is older now, and times have changed; there is no way to recapture the insanity that made this movie work so well. If something like this were released today, there would be a public furor, and all involved with the movie would never be allowed to work again and labelled forever as racist, sexist, homophobic swine of the lowest order (never mind that none of those labels would be accurate). I would fear that a modern sequel would be something more along the lines of Dumb and Dumber, relying on lowest-common-denominator drivel to drive the non-story. I say let this one stand alone as a testament to lunacy.

The boxers you refer to that were also in UHF are a meta-comedy troupe called "The Kipper Kids".  They were/are notorious for showing up at comedy clubs in diapers and doing their entire act in baby-language -- not "ma-ma/da-da" -- Though they are indeed DADA as all hell -- but grunts and coos and glottal gurgles.
Bette Midler has been married to the larger of the 2 Kipper Kids for 30 years or so.
I don't even know if they still perform, but when I was on the comedy circuit they had a reputation for odd behaviour that surpassed Andy Kaufmann and Emo Philips combined.

. . . oh, I also have to shout-out the great great Cab Calloway numbers in the film -- It's a shame that more people today don't seek out that old Cab Calloway music, as it still rocks:  If you like Forbidden Zone, check out "International House", with W.C. Fields, George Burns, Bela Lugosi, Gracie Allen, and Cab Calloway playing the very non-D.A.R.E. song "Reefer Man"!!

wELL, actually, the film DID have that reaction when it was originally released. Richard Elfman was even accused of being an anti-Semite, even though he's Jewish!
