Okay, so ol' Drew's been hosting the show for a couple of weeks now and I've watched a few episodes. I gotta say, I miss Bob Barker something fierce. The new set is a little, I don't know, tacky I guess would be the term I'm looking for. As for Drew himself, well, he's no Bob Barker. I know he's not supposed to be, but when you've grown up with a man in that position your entire life and now some other guy's tossed into the position, you know there's going to be a little system shock. Beyond the system shock though, Drew just doesn't have the rhythm or the charisma of Bob. He seems a little uncomfortable up there and his patter seems to be the product of that discomfort. It's like he knows he has big shoes to fill and he just knows he can't fill those shoes. Personally, after seeing a few episodes of the latest season of Family Feud, I have to say that I think John O'Hurley would've made a better host. He's got just enough pompous attitude and charm to him that I think he could pull it off, fake or not. Maybe Drew will eventually ease into the job, but I just don't think he has the type of personality it takes to host such an upbeat, "safe" show like the Price is Right.

Anybody else seen Drew's work on tPiR yet?

He doesn't seem comfortable yet so I'm going to give him a little more time to see if he can pull off his new job.

Saw his debut, didn't expect much being early in his time on the show (read elsewhere that the first one aired was not the first one he taped, that one aired later the same week apparently).

Give him some time, he'll find a way to make the show his own, hopefully without bringing his usual improv comedy buddies somehow. He can't be Barker, or the typical game show host like Woolery or Bob Eubanks, etc. If the producers wanted that they would have gone with someone like Todd Newton, Billy Bush, or plenty of other interchangeable entertainment show hosts.

I haven't watched the price is right for some time, even with Barker hosting.  I doubt Drew Carey's going to rekindle my interest in the show much.

Anyone notice the little things you can predict on this show?  Like when they show the first showcase in the showdown, the first contestant will bid on it if it has a car, or pass if it doesn't...it's kinda funny, cause it's like it could have a trip around the world, and all kinds of other good stuff...it could even include the cure for cancer, but if it doesn't have a car, then no deal.   TeddyR

I haven't watch the new episodes since I work when it comes on where I live.  Nothing is usually the same when someone else comes.  I mean look at New Years Eve when Dick Clark wasn't host a few years ago because of his stroke.  It was New Years, but it wasn't the same.  It didn't have his charm.  Even though he his back on and his speech is is not as it used to be because of his stroke the spark sorta came back.

Ah yes, the New Year's show...my friends and I affectionately now refer to it as "Dick Clark's New Year's Strokin' Eve"

I'm sorry, that was cruel... TeddyR

It is kinda cruel, I mean it's still a New Years eve show, but it's just not the same.

It would be like doing Match Game without Gene Rayburn, or Love connection without Chuck Woolery.  It's just not the same.

Yeah, it was incredibly cruel for anyone who doesn't need to have the horrid image of Dick Clark stroking anything... which is disturbingly ironic because his name is dick... uggh  Buggedout
