Farcry: Instincts on the Xbox. Sadly, my S-Video connection is acting up so I'm playing it on composite. Still, it is a b***h in spots.

Turok on the PS3.  You're a macho space marine and your ship crashes on a jungle planet, full of dinosaurs and bad guys.  And you're accompanied by none other than Ron Perlman!  Good fun.

Started playing back through for the umpteenth time SUPER METROID on the Super Nintendo.

I beat Super C on my NES today.  Does that make me hardcore awesome?  I'd like to think so.

Still playing Counter-Strike, , , starting to get into TF2
Raw bacon is GREAT! It's like regular bacon, only faster, and it doesn't burn the roof of your mouth!

Happiness is green text in the "Stuff To Watch For" section.

James James: The man so nice, they named him twice.

You play on Steam, I presume.
If so, add me as a friend.  My Steam ID is ashthecat3.

I play Team Fortress 2 as well.

Actually, I play against bots in CSS, I can't stand the elitism online these days.

These days?  Why...  I been playing Counter-Strike for so long, I can remember when the M4 was always silenced, and you had to bind a key to get the buy menu!  I killed many a man with flash bang shrapnel too!  And I still run with the knife!

But one thing I can't remember too well is a time when Counter-Strike didn't have elitism.  When was this?

It always did to some degree, but now it's just a vehicle for a***oles to be rude and insulting. Many, and I'd even go as far as to say most CS players these days don't play for fun or competition, they play to say things they will never have the courage to say to a person's face. Sucks really.

I think that's the reason the modding community for most games has almost gone away: The people that spend time learning to make mods for a game and making them don't have the time to play and get really good, but the a***oles playing their mods and such treat them like such crap many of them lose interest in the game and their projects. Notice there's few maps and even less mods for CS: Who wants to spent the time and effort to make something for those pricks? (not all, but surely way more pricks than one would expect). UT2004 had a HUGE modding community, but once being an a***ole to anyone else playing became the standard, the community virtually died. It seemed like it was overnight: One day the unrealgames forums had 3 pages of new topics in the unrealscript board, the next day it was 5 threads a week, no more.

Still working on Mace Griffin Bounty Hunter on the PS2.  I was having a lot of fun with it for 2 or 3 hours, there's actually a stretch of really enjoyable gameplay in there.  Now of course I've run into another totally sucky part.  I've played through it about 30-40 times already.  You have to shoot a spaceship, and there's a time limit.  The ship is ridiculously maneuverable, you're lucky to hit it 10 or 15 times.  A couple of times I've gotten lucky and nailed it maybe 30-40 times, but that still wasn't enough.  I guess you've got to pump a bunch of missiles into it as well as nail it with the guns numerous times.   :hatred:  The people who made this really had their heads up their a$$es.

Downloaded a bunch of free game demos on the PS3, Killzone 2 and Resistance Fall of Man are the only two I've checked out so far.  They both seem pretty interesting, Killzone is positively intense - the surround sound definitely puts you in the middle of a war.  Resistance is more take cover and pick your shots sort of thing.  I think I need to work on my taking cover skills, but I wanna run up there and shoot those guys  :teddyr:

I believe the single biggest cause of this was voice chat becoming a built in feature of multiplayer games.  People too readily ignored angry text, or took it as sarcasm, for ***holes to really disrupt gameplay much.  Few people can type fast enough to really vent anything.  I have to say, on the whole, voice chat is more of a detriment to my online gaming experience than a plus.  Sometimes it really adds to things, especially in good teamplay stuff, but that's the rare exception.

As far as what I did in games today...  I beat Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves for the NES.  I'm planning a semi-mocking video review of it, due to a couple amusing bits in it, and I recorded myself beating it.  First time I've beaten it actually.

I'm presently over at a friend's house killing Nazi zombies on Call of Duty: World at War.

The same as always with Dragon Quest, but I have now begun my descent into Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.  This I'll take even longer.  Also, I have been playing through the Half-Life series again.  I am currently playing Half-Life 2: Episode 1.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game. So far, it's pretty fun, although somewhat repetitive. It's fun to shoot everything, though. Yay for willy-nilly destruction!
