Downloaded Warhammer 40k: Kill Team.  Not bad but I'm not too familiar with Warhammer 40k to really be overly enthusiastic.  Seems interesting though.
Ah, the good old days.

Recently: A really awful old fighting game called "Ka-Ge-Ki: Fists Of Steel".

My son recently discovered my old Sega Genesis in the closet and since then we've been playin' a lot of Sonic the Hedgehog. Geez, it's been years since I've played that game and y'know what? I still suck at it.

Been playing Fallout New Vegas for several weeks now.  It really doesn't compare to Fallout 3.  Honestly, it seems like they just slapped this thing together for the sake of milking the franchise.  Every darned building you go into (with the exception of the casinos) is 100% recycled from buildings in Fallout 3 - it's equal parts comical and disappointing how little effort was put into this.  Damned near all of the quests just involve going waaaaaay across the map to talk to somebody, then go waaaaaay across the map to talk to somebody else.  I can easily go an entire evening with this game and do nothing but travel and talk    And the voice acting is painfully mediocre - in Fallout 3 everyone you met was a unique, quirky and always believable character.  In this game it's just people reading the script into a microphone.

And none of this stuff is very interesting at all.  Fallout 3 had a real mystique about it - I could set off across the wasteland at night, pan the camera up into the sky and look at the moon, listen to the moody theme music, and be completely immersed in the world.  This game doesn't have that.  It's all just so mundane.  It doesn't feel like a post-apocalyptic world at all, it just feels like one big sleazy sh!thole.

Oh well, Dead Island will be arriving Sept. 6.  Hopefully that will live up to expectations.

Umaril The Unfeathered

I definitely wanna' give Dead Island a try.

Apparently the developers must have seen Fulci's Zombi 2 because in the trailer there was a scene of a single zombie walking down the street with a church tower behind him, just like in the movie.

Right now I got a copy of Call Of Duty: Black Ops and just went thru the hell of the Vietnam level in Khe Sahn. Now THAT was a fight.  :buggedout: Next level is somewhere in Hong Kong in the early 70's. Good shootout, but I keep getting killed.

Recently: Silk Worm, 1988 Tecmo (arcade)

Passable, not overly-impressive shooter where you can play as a chopper or a jeep (or 1p and 2p simultaneous play) and shoot enemies and bosses in this horizontal scroller.  Nice backgrounds for its time, but kinda unspectacular.

Just beat Knight of the Old Republic and have almost beat Dead Space 2 for a second time. Dead Space 2 is such an awesome game. My next games will be the Mass Effect series or maybe Chtulhu saves the world don't know which yet.

It is now official, my 8 year old can totally kick my ass at Sonic the Hedgehog. He's only been playin' it for a couple of weeks and yet he's already gotten further than I ever did in that game. A couple of days ago he got within a hair of completing it.

I am not sure if I should feel proud, or jealous. I mean, I've been playin' that game since before he was born for cryin' out loud!!

The Baconing, the return of Death Spank, not far but hoping it remains as humorous as the others

Edit: My mistake I thought it was familiar.  Was playing the second and didn't realize I had just preordered it on the PS Store.

Be proud of your son for recognizing the fun factor behind older, classic games like Sonic.  Keep him going on Genesis games if you can help it, like Gunstar Heroes, Phantasy Star IV, Thunder Force, Gaiares, Starflight, etc.

I'm still putzing around with Fallout New Vegas.  Got over 100 hours into it now.  Played through one of the endings a couple nights ago - it was exactly the sort of ho-hum "why did I even have to do that?" type of thing I'd expect from this game.  The epilogue was pretty cool though, probably the most engaging part of the whole experience.  Now I suppose I'll go back to some old game saves and go through the rest of the endings, just to be thorough about things.  The last few nights I've been going for trophies, killing a bunch of guys with unarmed combat 'til the trophy popped, then I did the same with melee weapons (a chainsaw - that was kind of fun   :teddyr: ) Now I'm killing everybody with explosives.

Still got a week before Dead Island arrives.  I dunno, maybe if I get real ambitious I'll try to platinum this.  Don't really see that happening though.  These trophies are really boring to get and I don't care too much for this game in the first place.

Michael Dorn (Worf from Star Trek:  The Next Generation) did the voice of one of the characters.  He was so nice, asking me if I might help him out with a problem he was having.  You should have seen the look of surprise when I disemboweled him with my chainsaw.   :teddyr:  Sorry dude, I'm trying to get a trophy here.
