They were knocking it over at AICN, but I think they did a good job of making of hybrid of the two creatures (sure looks a helluva lot better than that humalien in Alien Resurrection).

This still sounds like the alien version of a slasher film Lookingup

The Predalien looks basically like it did in AVP: Duel, but bulkier. I wonder if they kept the Alien hands...

I'm glad Ian Whyte is coming back as the Predator.  The Predator's face looks a lot better than it did in AVP, too.

It's not too bad, but not great either.  Based on the pics anyway.  I'd like to see it in motion.  None of the preadliens designs are really that good.  The ones in the AVP2 game are fairly decent, though the game is old enough the detail doesn't come across that well.  It's similar to the movie design, just a little more subdued and with less of an elongated head.  They're all somewhat similar to that though.  I think the dreadlocks have no place - humaliens don't have hair, do they?  I think they just do it to make it more obvious just what it is.

In any case, as an AVP fan, I'm pretty psyched.  Looks like they might have this right, a lot of their comments make me think so anyway.  Gore, shot at night and in the rain, mostly physical effects - good stuff.

IGN has another scene from the movie (the Predalien is not in it) called store showdown.  Several people are under attack by Aliens when the Predator "hitman" shows up. True to Predator code he doesn't waste anyone not carrying a gun, but he doesn't do anything to prevent collateral casualties.

I like the fact that the makers of this new film seem to feel that Alien vs. Predator was a bad joke, and are talking about taking the franchise back to its roots.  They also seem to be as disgusted with the recent CGI crapfests as I am.  It gives me some slight hope.  I thought the script for Alien vs. Predator could have been from a Sci-Fi Channel Original, it was that bad.  Personally I'd much rather see a new, good Alien or Predator film rather than this versus nonsense, but who knows.  The original movies worked because you had great human characters that you really cared about, and they were menaced by a terrible creature.  Making movies about one creature versus another, with the humans just there for...well, nothing really;  eh, that stuff should stay in the comic books where it belongs.

They could give us Predator's to care about, and a human or two, and then have them team up to fight aliens.  Only make it non-stupid, as it is in the first movie.  It worked in the inital comic and novel pretty well.
