TCM movies just did a great Boris Karloff marathon Halloween night. From 8pm to 6am. I didn't get to see them since Ghostbusters did a 6 hour live broadcast, but during commercials I watched parts of the first four films. All of them looked great and I hope to watch each of these one day.
Bedlam
The Ivisible Ray
The Body Snatcher
The Old Dark House
Die Monster Die
The Walking Dead
Isle Of The Dead
I've seen them all. All good ,many classic! My Short takes-
.The INVISABLE RAY- Karloff (literlay) shines in this...which was later reworked,in a way, as MAN MADE MONSTER...with Lon Chaney and Lionel Atwill!
.The BODY SNATCHER-in my opinion the BEST of the Val Lewton RKO horrors of the 40's!!!
.The OLD DARK HOUSE- Of all the films listed..this is THEE must see. James Whale's black humor at it's finest! And Ernest Theisanger! -"Here...have a potato"
.DIE MONSTER DIE!- Nice to see King Karloff still kicking it in the 60's...with Nick Adams too!
.The WALKING DEAD- Trivia note-Bogart used the same funky hairstyle in the RETURN of DR.X a coupla years later!
.ISLE of the DEAD- Another Val Lewton-Robert Wise masterpiece!
