Need help finding a film

A person told me of a movie or tv special that was apart of a segment by Disney called "After School
Special(s)". It was about a boy who came across an abandoned amusement park
wherein he finds a mechanical dragon. This machine is apparently alive and
requests that the boy complete him. Could you help me find it?

Doesn't ring a bell...But if you substitute "Disney" for "Henson" and "abandoned amusement park" for "F/X studio" you sort of have "Monster Maker" (1989)....

i'll look into it. Heson does sound more likely to be correct as I remember the dragon being a complex puppet

I think Frank is correct in saying that the film requested is "Monster Maker".

It is certainly Monster Maker. For years I had searched this exact film out thinking it was part of the Henson show where Henson studios would present little one hour stories. Finally found out about a year ago that the dragon one is actually Monster Maker.
