Awhile back, there were several threads about the worst CGI effects.  I own both "Python" and "Boa", so I thought I'd seen the nadir of this controversy . . .
More fool I . . .
Anyone out there seen . . . "KRAKEN"??
There is a scene wherein the very very atrociously fake CGI squid is thrashing about in the water.  It could not be more plain that someone is dangling strings in the water to create the little splashes & that the flailing tentacles have been -- poorly superimposed over that . . .

I saw the DVD at Best Buy one night.  Picked it up, looked it over, and put it back down.  I'd spent my budget for "really bad new movies" on something like "Shockwave" or "Dragon Fighter."  Seriously, some of these new bad movies are only made for people who like being bored or annoyed (or both).

I think it is hard to top the CGI from Vampire Vixens From Venus.

Just watch ant Sci-Fi Channel original movie featuring a snake (there must be 100 of them by now) if you want to be underwhelmed by the beyond shoddy CGI work.

Watches too many bad movies

You want bad CGI, watch the movie Dark Wolf with Kane Hodder (aka Jason Vorhees) as the bad guy. When the characters turn into their 'werewolf' forms, it's REALLY bad CGI. I mean PlayStation 1 CG graphics morphing bad.

Others that come to mind...

Spiders 2 (lots of bad CGed spiders)

Sabretooth (can tell when it's an animatronic head versus a full CG sabretooth tiger)

That reminds me of Attack of the Sabretooth, which has the worst CG I've seen on SciFi Channel in the sequence where the giant golden Sabretooth building falls onto the evil developer character.

I've not seen it myself, but I was under the impression that the effects were probably overlay or something else - not CGI?  I will say that the weird blue/purple monster in the living room in your review always cracks me up.

Gah, your site always loads slow for me.  Looking at it, Dreamhost is definitely the problem.

I'm not sure technically what the difference is so I just group them all together.  The spaceship scenes do have no live action elements.

I'll probably be switching webhosts when the paid year is up, but thanks to grad school I haven't had much time to update or shop around.  This especially sucks as my site has doubled in daily visitors that past month.

KRAKEN was KRAP ... I swear I don't know how some of these movies get made, I've had far better day dreams than some of the crap Sci-Fi Channel has produced, they cancel winning franchises like FarScape and then turn around and produce crap movies and the abysmal Flash Gordon. I would have rather dealt with another nauseum season of SG-1 than to watch that tripe.

Much of the CGI has gotten lazy and looks like is was a failing computer graphics exam at high school level. I've seen better home made CGI than I have some of the stuff they release now. I do believe I could do a better job with a sock puppet and a Sharpe.

That "true to the novel" WAR OF THE WORLDS flick that came out around the same time as Spielberg's version had some really bad CGI moments.  Really bad.  And I bought the damned DVD!

I'll be honest, I was really looking forward to the Pendragon Pictures War of the Worlds.  The animation is some of the cheapest I have ever seen.  The city stuff reminded me of a Playstation game called Urban Chaos.  And the Thunderchild sequence--  just painful to watch.

Kraken?  I was so bewitched by the incredibly hot babes I barely even noticed the horrible plot, acting or CGI  TeddyR  It's actually near the top of my wishlist  TongueOut

I agree with Tars about Attack of the Sabretooth - the entrance to the sabretooth building is shaped like a giant sabretooth head, and near the end an earthquake causes one of the teeth to fall off and impale a guy.  I swear they used construction paper.  That one took even me by surprise.

Alien Express with Lou Diamond Phillips deserves a mention too.  A helicopter crashes into a mountainside and it looked like they threw a Molotov cocktail against a wall and then overlaid the flame effect.  Either the helicopter was filled to capacity with nitroglycerin or that was one laughably bad effect.
