WILD THINGS (1998) - Surprisingly well shot mystery/suspense/thriller with a lot of star power. Kevin Bacon, Matt Dillion, Denise Richards, Robert Wagner, and a great role by Bill Murray. They do a good job of twisting the whole film around. Nicely shot in Florida with the Ocean, Beaches, Everglades, and Bay areas. Bought the double DVD pack along with WILD THINGS 2 for $3.00 at Big Lots.

(8 Out Of 10 Stars)   Thumbup Thumbup You have to love Bill Murrays role.

Great movie.  Bill rocks, as always.  Neve is hotter than ever.  Could've done without getting a piece of Bacon at the end though. Buggedout

It's a shame that Neve didn't shed her no-nudity clause around the making of this movie as it could have benefited from her showing as much skin as Denise Richards did.

But the movie is fun, the theatrical cut is the best version of the movie. The unrated edition just puts back in some footage that was cut out for good reason though the extended version of Neve & Denise's pool makeout session should have been kept in the theatrical cut IMO.    The movie seemed to be relishing in its sleeziness so I'm surprised that they trimmed it out.

The movie is a lot of fun and has a few too many twists during the 2nd half but the fun performances and taut & stylish direction keep it very afloat.

I would give the theatrical cut *** out of ****.

This was a fun movie, that struck the right notes with me as a teenage lad.  Lots of twists to be sure, but all things considered I thought they handled them quite well.

But let's face it: the only reason why anyone saw this was rather nice three-way action.  Hallo!

Funny story: Some friends and I rented this and Cruel Intentions as part of a video night.  Basically take 4 teenage boys and that much sexual innuendo and you're in for a good night.  We went to put in Wild Things first, and were shocked to see a British Period piece before our eyes.  Surprise turned to annoyance when we discovered the video store person had accidentally put the wrong VHS in the case...

But that was ok, we all loved Cruel Intentions so by the end we were appropriately wanting to be 'Sebastian' [he had a cool car after all].

Loved this one. My only complain is that they overdo the twists at the ending, but it's a more intelligent film than you could tell from its sleazy surface.

The best bits? Bill Murray at his scene-stealling best, Kevin Bacon's face when he tries to record some evidence with a videocam, and the moment when somebody (Bacon?) writes "SEX" on a blackboard and then follows it with "CRIMES". As short as the moment is, it sums up the movie.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.
