I can believe Huckabee is doing well in a state like Iowa, but I don't know how he'll do else where. They had this on our local FOX news last night, it's supposed to start running on TV in Iowa this week.

Sticks and stones will break your bones, but Chuck Norris' glare will liquify your kidneys .  .  .

I was gonna vote for Mike in the primaries anyway.  Looks like I may have to now.  Wouldn't want the Chuckster hunting me down.

Being a resident of the state of Iowa, we're already getting hammered with political ads from all the candidates.

While I like the Chuck Norris ad, I don't think older voters would get it.
It seems more geared towards younger voters.  And there are a lot less younger voters here in Iowa than older voters.

2008 is going to be bad for us TV watchers.  The Iowa caucuses are still 6 weeks away and you can't go one commercial break without being subjected to an ad by Obama, Clinton or one of the many other candidates.
It's only gonna get worse.

I think Huckabee's has good ideas but I don't think he can compete as the national level, perhaps in the VP slot but not the lead candidate. I really don't know enough about him yet to call it one way or the other.

Huckabee did some good things in Arkansas. He is a Baptist minister and he and his wife both have concealed weapons permits in the state of Arkansas. I will never get the "gun-totin' Christian" thing.

He did a lot in the realm of helping the working poor (which there are a lot of in this state), mostly in the realm of health insurance.  There are lot of things I don't agree with him on (I tend to be a little liberal in social matters).  I don't think I'd vote for him as pres and I don't think he'll do well in  a lot of the country.

Not too shabby, though I think your assessment is right that it's not likely to influence many voters. (Hey, an actor is endorsing a candidate! This sets him apart from the others... how, exactly? Anybody who's anybody can usually get at least one actor's endorsement.)

Considering that a lot of hard-core Bible-believing Christians (e.g. myself) live out in rural areas, it shouldn't be too tricky to understand how we come to be gun-toting types as well. I mean, it's not as if there's a "thou shalt keep and bear weapons" Commandment or anything (though there is a small passage in the gospels indicating that Jesus checked with his disciples to make sure they had a couple of swords so they could take care of themselves in the time between his death and resurrection), but freedom to worship and freedom to keep and bear arms are merely two of the many popular freedoms we cherish out here in the sticks.

Not everybody's quite as active about it, mind: my family has several guns, but we don't usually carry them with us everywhere we go. On the whole, Huckabee's not a bad fellow as they go. For my part, though, I think I'll be voting for Fred Thompson.

I grew up in the country too, guns were always around mainly for hunting and plinking.  I was talking about those who think they need to carry a gun everywhere they go and be ready to shoot someone at a moment's notice. I have a hard time getting that to jibe with gospel.
