i remember seeing a film with a prominent scene showing a head suspended in a large jar full of fluid. i seem to think that it was turning towards the camera, as though someone was stirring it. this was an old black and white flick. was it "they saved hitler's brain"? i remember the head having dark, short hair, and maybe some facial hair.

Really, "They Saved Hitler's Brain" is the first and only thing I think of when you say "head floats in jar".  Did the head speak or anything else you can remember?

really, i saw it so young that i doubt any other image from the film stood a chance.
i do remember that the head looked bigger than usual because it was in water.

i have no idea how old you are,so i'm going to guess"the jar",perhaps..it's in color on video,no idea about tv broadcasts,if any...it's pretty bad...or it could be from alfred hitchcock,or tales from the darkside,or any of many anthology series that did the "other"jar story...

i'm 28, but i watched a lot of creature double-feature shows when i was a kid, so i've seen lots of old b&w schlock.

DOH! I may have an answer...in the movie BLOODLUST (1961-a remake of the old the MOST DANGEROUS GAME) the villian hunts down people with a crossbow and stores their heads in jars in his secret room. Heres a link to the film. It's been reruns for years...and as a public domain film...it's very possible you saw it on any local 'Creature Feature 'type show.

you might well be on to something there. this reminds me that i recall seeing more rough wood sets than clean, clinical looking ones. has anyone seen this? i wonder if the scene with the head turning towards the camera is in there somewhere...

Here's a still from HITLER'S BRAIN.  Don't recommend watching it, though.  Takes too long for the "brain" to show up.
