I want to be Ripley when I grow up.

I got nineteen stitches on the outside of my left hand yesterday (totally gonna leave a scar for future storytelling!) after my cousin stabbed me with scissors. She was aiming for my face but I blocked it, thank you Krav Maga. She was going to go to rehab yesterday and Sunday evening made me promise no matter what she said I'd make sure she stayed in the house til then, but she kinda changed her mind Monday morning as the siren call of the Golden Triangle's finest got to her, and to emphasize the point, ran me through with, as luck would have it, my one pair of scissors sharp and pointy enough to actually go through human flesh.

Went to the emergency room to get sewn up and had a bad reaction to the local they gave me and in the midst of my suddenly 120 beats per second heart rate got uncontrollably chatty and contradicted my own "Um, I fell" story so that when the nurse heard the truth she called the police. What did the police say? "Why were you trying to stop your cousin from leaving? It was her right to go."

And now (believe it or not I think this is the worst part) my cousin is an involuntary psychiatric patient, and instead of rehab she may get deported back to Ireland and be banned from the United States.

Ah, family life...

You did the right thing.

Agreed.

If the zombie apocalypse started on a Saturday morning, while a bunch of suburban WASPs were outside playing with their large, sharp yard tools, it would probably be a very short, boring movie. Cheers

A magnificent week lies ahead, I can just tell! The weather forecast looks great, Dog Day's Night (a Perseid-watching all-night event) is coming up, Indy's novel is close to release, my garden is looking good, my in-laws are out of town, got the concert tickets I was after, and a Halloween megastore was just announced up the road from me! Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Took a quick trip to Pasadena, TX to bury my last surviving aunt yesterday and today.
It's a five hour drive non-stop, and a much longer trip for two fifty year olds with hyperactive
bladders!  I did get to see all my siblings and first cousins, though, which doesn't happen
too often any more.  Wish it was a better occasion.

Considering growing up I thought their lyrics were poetry, in retrospect The Cure had some crazy ideas. All cats are not gray. Jumping someone else's train is likely to get you run over. Dancing in the deepest oceans will just blow out your eardrums. Spiderman won't be having you for dinner tonight unless your name is Mary Jane. You don't sleep when you're dead. Boys DO cry. Being slowly drowned doesn't make for an angelic date. What's so desirable about being covered in cream and eaten by a lovecat? Couldn't Charlotte Sometimes have found a better place to sleep than a dance floor? And why exactly didn't Robert Smith get out of that kitchen sink he was in at 10:15 on a Saturday night if the water drip-drip-dripping on him was so irritating?

On second thought pondering this makes me want to drag out my old CDs....

I had a girlfriend once who fell asleep (or passed out) on the dance floor.  Her name was Tammy though.

Too bad, I bet if that cat could talk, what tales he'd tell...
