Hi there!

« Reply #15120 on: December 14, 2014, 01:36:42 AM »

Today was my 51st birthday.
I spent the whole day out with two good friends, zipping around the lake in my trusty boat, the Water Turkey, and
finding a few arrowheads here and there.  Came home, ate about half a pot full of chicken and dumplings, and then my
daughters baked me a delicious Hershey's chocolate cake - and my wife got me the new Stephen King novel for my Bday!
It was a very nice day!

One year older, not one whit wiser!  LOL

Arent we all?  Cheers

Looks like someone has taken somewhere around 40 people at a cafe hostage and is forcing them to hold up a flag similar to IS's one along with arabic writing on it. Some people have either been released, or managed to escape themselves.

My God, these ISIS guys are such a bunch of amateurs! Astounding to me that people are actually scared of them.

I remember being depressed the whole year that I was 29 because it was the last year I'd be young  Bluesad  And you really do turn old at 29 + 1 day.  You can badly pull a muscle just by yawning the wrong way.  You can't remember any word you don't use ten times a day.  Cute girls start calling you "sir".

All this and more awaits you.

What if "HO-HO-HO!" wasn't really Santa's laugh?

What if it were how he coughs?

When we were little kids in elementary school, the teacher used to make us pick up all the tiny scraps of paper on the floor before the guy came around and vacuumed in the evenings.  I mean WTF?  Isn't picking up tiny scraps of paper exactly what vacuums are for?

And what's with memorizing the multiplication tables?  I never got any real use out of that.  And yet in elementary school they made it sound like you'd be cast out from society if you couldn't rattle off anything times anything in a split second.

And what the hell was all that about the cotton gin being the most important invention of the last 4.5 billion years?  They couldn't have taught us about something interesting like automobiles, airplanes, telephones, etc?  Nope, cotton gin.  We'd still be livin' up in the trees if not for the cotton gin  Lookingup

History consisted of nothing but memorizing names and dates too.  Who won WWII?  doesn't matter.  On what date did the Inter-Allied Council and the United Nations ratify the Atlantic Charter?  Worth three points on the test.

"Water Turkey" is a slang term for cormorants, big ugly birds with hooked beaks that eat their weight in fish every day.  The local lake is swarming with them, so it seemed appropriate somehow.

I dreaded turning 40 but really I feel no difference whatsoever. Having really felt any major change since 25 when I could no longer eat at all hours of the night.
