Just heard that Christopher Tolkien has died at the age of 95. I wonder who will be looking after the estate now?

I talked with a few coworkers about Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. They enjoyed the movie but none of them ever heard of Charles Manson, his crimes or the Spahn Ranch. They thought it was all fictional.

I trust the estate will be left in very capable hands and RIP, Christopher Tolkien.

I'm pretty sure they have plenty of hobbits in there, they can handle it.

Two former coworkers of mine passed away recently, both in their early 50s. We never socialised outside work and I haven't seen both since I quit my old job ten years ago. I was told one died of alcohol related illness, the other died of cancer. Not sure how to feel about this since we were never super close even though we worked together for twelve years. Anyway, RIP.

You know what I'm enjoying about this replay of Bloodborne four years later? My pace is more sedate and the game seems less insistent that I rush ever onward. Now I tell myself, I'll get there, take it easy, go back and walk down that street again. See those pale death lilies growing in the cracks between the splintered cobblestones next to that rotting cart horse? Aren't they boootiful?

Yes, I feel at peace to wander and gaze around at the oft-missed beauty of the putrid, undead setting....while I hack apart presumed enemies* with an ax.

*Enemies? I did invade their city, I admit, so maybe I'm actually the bad person here, and they're just roving citizen patrols who happen to look like the offspring of Leatherface and his granddaughter?

Talking dolls, poison-spreading orphans, giant rats, half-rotten boars in a sewerscape, mad scientists with a pseudo-sexual need for blood? Skull-shaped full moons, soggy graveyards filled with cannibal snipers? Hermaphroditic clerics with a thing for kittens? Fun game!

I'm thinking it may be time to lock this thread and use the other one ("Make a Random Statement No One Should Care About"). I know on other forums they lock threads when they get much shorter than this one; I believe there are performance reasons behind it. Any objections or comments?

I think it'll work but only if you change the title to "The Unofficial Badmovies.org Random Thought Thread About Statements Some People Should Care About!".

If it's locked the thread will gradually sink back through old topics and be forgotten, and all these profound random thoughts will be unvisited and lost.

Once there was a man who dreamed he was a black bear. Then he began to wonder if perhaps he was a black bear now dreaming he was a man. Then he decided that was stupid and put the dream down to that pastrami on rye he had before bed.
