Come to think of it, even though the economy is really bad, has anyone heard of any GOVERNMENT workers losing their jobs?

Not sure about the federal government (well, unless you count political appointees). But as others have pointed out, state and local governments are really hurting and cutting back on employees, even critical things like police. The stimulus bill has money specifically for police and in at least one case (Columbus, Ohio) that is being used to offset cutbacks that were going to happen.

Well, yeah, Federal (United States, I mean) is what I was really wondering about... heard somewhere that despite everything the Federal government doesn't seem to be shrinking in jobs, but I dunno if that's really true or not (can't say it'd surprise me.)

They but a wind turbine up at my town's high school.  I can see it from my house but am rather disappointed they haven't started it up yet.  Yeah...its a boring Saturday.

The ITV4 channel seems to have stalled during it's showing of "The Fog".

It's neat how long canned food will last.  I've got a couple cans of soup that don't even have an expiration date on them, they just say, "Kingdom Come!"

I've come to really like the M1 Garand my grandpa (sort of inexplicably) left me when he passed away almost nine years ago. It's a bit of our nation's history, a bit of his history as well. A family heirloom. When I was little I used to watch him knock tin cans off a fence at a hundred yards with it, just for fun. Bam bam bam one right after the other with frightening ease, making me pity the North Koreans he served against in the '50's. He'd be proud to know I've started keeping up the legacy of target shooting with his M1. I tell my friends about it and they're all like, "Huh? You did what? YOU?" I never fired a gun till I was twenty-five, never even touched a firearm, actually, but I soon discovered there's a lot in common between accuracy in firing a rifle and in my old obsession of making a tennis serve land right where I want it to: you wouldn't think so but there is. It's almost spooky to find out you have a skill you never would have guessed you had. It's funny.

My The Lost Empire DVD arrived.
However, the picture quality is worse than that of a VHS. I think the DVD company simply transfered the footage from tape to disc. Bluesad

It's really bad. It's in full screen!!! I hate it when that happens!

Which is a shame because it's a great film.
