Had pizza and beer last night and all I can say this morning is - don't go anywhere near that bathroom with an open flame.  In fact it would probably be a good idea to not go downstairs at all for the next half hour or so.

A single division left in place there could have prevented the current crisis.
We still have troops in Germany and Japan 70 years after World War II - and there is peace and stability in those countries.
I guess the lesson to be learned is, "don't go unless you are prepared to stay."

Strong contenders for words I read the most on the Internet in 2014 so far: "Chipotle" and "passive aggressive".

We systematically rooted out each and every Nazi in Germany after WWII - if we would have left them and their entire infrastructure in place, which is exactly what's been done in Iraq and Afghanistan for fear of offending their relgion, they would have done exactly what any reasonable person would have expected them to do:  wait until we leave and then take over again.

Personally I have absolutely no interest in seeing hundreds of lives and hundreds of billions of dollars wasted on trying to bring peace and stability to some country halfway around the world that has no concept of these Western ideals we hold so dear.

That's a valid point, Jack.
The problem is that I fear these folks who are trying to take over Iraq.
They hate America, the West, and all that we stand for.  I don't know that they will
be content to stay over there and blight their own country.  In one form or another, I
think they will try to strike us again.

Very well said, Jack. I agree 100%...

But - the US will probably KEEP doing crap like this around that region until the dollar collapses...

Mad Magazine... I once read the "Were it not for Entertainment Tonight, coal miners, construction workers, factory workers & the like would never get to hear about what a grueling job acting is."

I've had some rough jobs in the past...

I had a shoot this past weekend

If the bubbles were supposed to be from champagne, does that mean that Lawrence Welk was promoting alcoholism?

He was just letting the audience know that most of his acts were a lot easier to watch if they got good & toasted first.  TeddyR

I am so p**sed off at my county's board of commissioners right now.

The county is essentially bankrupt; they've been garnering extra income from tax opt-outs for the last five years and this year they were angling for a considerably larger one. some people circulated petitions to put the opt-out to a vote and at the beginning of this month it was voted down. The board is pretty worked up about it and last Friday they brought in a notice/editorial outlining all the things they're going to have to cut....while they were there, the chairman complained about how nobody is attending the public meetings. I let him know, politely, that they're not getting the schedules to us in a timely manner - our paper prints once a week, on Tuesdays - and people don't know enough in advance when the meetings are - this is a common complaint people have been bringing to the paper's office. I reiterated when our deadline is (Fridays at noon), when we print (Tuesdays), and what the earliest point is that readers get their info (Wednesdays at noon, absolute earliest). In the article that they left with us, there was a notice that the next special meeting (this Friday) begins at 3:00 pm
So.....twenty minutes ago we get an email from the County, the agenda for Friday's meeting: Call to Order at 10:00 am.

c**ts.
