Question Why is a quart of liquor called "a fifth"? Question

Liquor used to be sold in fifth-of-a-gallon bottles. What we call "fifths" today are really 750 ml bottles, which are between a fifth and a quart.

I think the big secret is that we're all already ghosts.

What if The End already happened, and we missed it?

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory, which states that this has already happened

On the way home today, I saw what I first thought was a tiny plush toy lying on the interstate service road.  As I drew near, I saw it was a tiny orange kitten.  I veered slightly to miss it, and saw it move as I did so.  So I stopped the car and came back, watching another truck barely miss it as I did so.  I picked up the tiny thing and its eyes and nose were bloody, and there was a slight abrasion on its forehead.  I thought it was dying, and carried it over to the ditch and set it in a big clump of soft grass, then turned to get back in my car.

I made it three paces.

The kitten began mewing pitifully, and my heart melted.  I picked it back up and took it home; my daughters cleaned her up and her injuries weren't as bad as I initially thought.  She's taking goat milk from a syringe and beginning to groom herself and move around some.

Her name is Fortuna.

It's Latin for "Lucky."

The trouble with money is when you have it you spend it, and when you spend it, you don't have it.

watching "the Hustler". I know it's a "masterpiece" but I don't like pool or method acting.

Somehow, I can't help imagining Jim Nabors as Jame "Buffalo Bill" Gumb, with his favorite song being a Chipmunks cover of Gordon Lightfoot's Sundown...
