One of the topics of conversation at work today was Inhumanly Tall Dave discussing a book (Y=mc2) he'd just been reading about how gravity affects time (not everything we techies read is lowbrow. Although to be be fair the lowbrow stuff most of my co-workers (well Whiny Jim anyway) would use would involve pictures but not much text).

Anyway, he was talking about a 38mS daily reset on clocks to keep them synchronised with objects in orbit and what not compared to things on earth. Just before half four I got up, put my jacket on an got ready to go home. He said "Hey, by my watch you still have at least 100 more seconds of work", to which I replied to Inhumanly Tall Dave, "Yeah, but your watch hasn't been reset for your much higher altitude than me. At my height, it's home time."

Sometimes being short is useful.

So, I've been playing Undertale a bit lately and I really don't get the hype around this game.  I mean, it's got a unique combat system, but other than that there's not really much drawing me forward on this.

Maybe I'm just getting old, I dunno...

Had an appointment with a dietician about my diabetes. Apparently I've to drink less fruit juice and eat less fruit and have more carbs, especially for breakfast. Was kinda expecting the opposite.

No, man, one of the biggest misconceptions about food is that fruit and fruit juices are so good for you it's okay to eat as much of them as you want. Loaded with sugar, those buggers. Extreme moderation is the key with those things. Remember, if it tastes good, it's bad for you, though how that plays into natural selection I have no idea.

Well she didn't say I had to eat less bacon so I am fine with everything else. I've to avoid diabetic chocolates (which I wouldn't have had anyway) as they do more damage than good, stick to regular alcohol rather than low alcohol drinks as they have more sugar. I'd imagine when I get my ass (and I suspect the rest of me too) back down the gym on Thursday that will help too.

So, here is something for you if you are feeling all stressed out or the world just seems more crazy than normal recently.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHPOzQzk9Qo

Listening to bit of Alice Cooper's 'Brutal Planet' myself.

Our WO popped into see me today. He was asking when Kristi is due. The dates I gave him just happened to perfectly fit around when he needed someone to send off overseas for a couple of weeks so he knobbled Katy for it instead.

Yeah, I can just imagine my chances of surviving if I said to Kristi "Hey hon, when you are giving birth I am off to insert random place that is most likely a desert type country for a few days. Will see you and Ash when I get home."

Had to get a bigger tray for Dagon as he kept sitting in his tray, but pooping over the edge of it. Turns out a cats litter tray should be 1 1/2 times the length of the cat.

Have you ever tried measuring a damn cat?

Anyway, now we have a bigger cat tray I am hoping to avoid further incidences of crap on the toilet floor. Since it is bigger i am also hoping he'll use it more and we can avoid him peeing in Kristi's wardrobe again and me having to wash pretty much every item of clothing she has. He is very fussy and if his tray isn't clean he won't use it. Some mornings I need to change his tray three times before going to work.

Ah, the joys of pets. We love them though right?

Sitting down to binge watch Fringe. We watched the first three seasons while I was down the Falklands, but never got to see the last two. Was driving Kristi crazy when she visited me down there that she couldn't get internet access and google what happens next (she can't wait to watch a program and has to find out how it ends).

It really got to her that I could get net access but wouldn't let her use my laptop. ;)

Because starvation was a far greater threat to our remote ancestors then overeating was. Foods loaded with calories would be highly prized for survival and a preference for them would be selected for. Also, making fruit into juice gets rid of a lot of bulky fiber that would fill you up and keep you from eating too much raw fruit. Fruit juice is terrible for dieters, but raw fruit is great.

Sitting listening to music. After several years of listening to more gothicly inclined stuff I seem to be moving back towards heavy metal, which I am putting down to getting out of the whole depression thing. Got some WASP singing about their L.O.V.E. Machine, although from the last time I saw Blackie Lawless I can't help thinking that these days that must be referring to a wheel chair, or possibly a viagra dispenser.

Rock stars should have the good taste to die early and not become pensioners. I am pretty sure it's in the contract. Heard 'Fast' Eddie died today. He was the last surviving member of what a lot of people view as the classic line up of Motorhead. For myself I reckon the last line up was the best. It certainly lasted longer than the others. Stupid bastard should never have walked out of the band all those years ago. I did see lots of posts about him Lemmy, Philthy Animal and Fast Eddie would be jamming together in heaven. Yeah right. Those guys would be punching hell out of each other and then going down the pub together for a pint. And I very much doubt they'd be in heaven either.

After all the devil gets all the best tunes.

Got the Mormon missionaries coming around for dinner tonight. It's a couple of women currently. They are due to arrive any time now. I've got my headphones plugged, so I guess I should take them off so I can hear when our guests arrive. Well, ok they are Kristi's guests, but I still try to be a polite host.

Well, ok I try, but I also offer them a beer with their dinner or their choice of caffinated drink knowing it's more or less against their religion because my old habit of cracking other peoples religions dies hard, even if I've not deliberately done it for somewhere around 15 years. I only did it when people tried to get me to join their religion though. Since nowadays they leave me alone I like to return the favour. I still remember the look on the last guy's face when I hit him with that one liner (in his case, this goes back to a big Tsunami that had hit Asia back in the early 2000's. A little while before that some storm had hit the US (the one that hit New Orleans I think) and he was out street preaching in Aberdeen about how this was the wrath of his god punishing the western white people for their sinful ways. The next time I was in Aberdeen he was collecting money for victims of the Tsunami. I told him that it was the wrath of my white gods punishing him. He did a good impression of a goldfish as his mouth opened and closed and I walked off and left him). Anyway, I never saw him street preaching again in Aberdeen. Maybe he gave up or maybe he just went some place I didn't go shopping.

Never knew that Elvira had severe burns over 35% of her body.

Actually started writing a story again, and not the stuff I've been writing for bored and frustrated housewifes, but an actual proper(ish) story. I've had it in my head for nearly twenty years so I guess its about time I did something with it. I have changed a few of the character names though, so a few people off the forum now have their names cameoing in it.

Did you know that the Netherlands has 5 trillion spiders and if they started eating people instead of insects they'd eat all Dutch people in just three days?

Just read that few people actually heard Orson Welles' infamous "War of the Worlds" broadcast on the radio because it ran opposite the top rated program of the day, which featured ventriloquist Edgar Bergen.

When I was younger I used to have, what I'll term adventures for want of a more appropriate word. I miss them. Sure I got stabbed, beaten up and what not a few times but there were good things about it too. Wither it was getting a bunch of friends and fighting it out with a bunch of skin heads who had been threatening my girlfriend of Asian descent or three of us riding motorbikes through an army check point while buck naked in Northern Ireland in the middle of winter part of me wishes I could bring those back, or even sneaking into the addicts ward of a local hospital and taking the inmates a special xmas dinner of cold turkey (and yes I know that sounds mean, but 17 year old me thought it was hilarious).

Oh well, I am a different person now and I don't do those things anymore.

Not often anyway.

About 4 or 5 years ago I made a post somewhere saying that what I really felt like doing was stealing a Destroyer and taking to the high seas as a pirate and asked who else was up for it. Oddly almost everyone who replied on some variation of yes were 90% female. Shame I never knew that the key to the heart of a woman was to give them the chance to pillage the seven seas when I was younger. 20 year old me could have used that info.

ooooooh, Thunderstruck just came on. Might just be my favourite AC/DC song. Although the Bad Piper done a pretty good version of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oO1bGlyHDNU for those who have no idea what I am talking about. If the apocalypse ever happens, that is the song I am going to be playing as I ride into battle in horseback against the host of angels.

I guess its a quarter moon tonight. Wish it was a full moon, I'd be up for going out dancing under it down on the beach. Feeling slightly hyper tonight which is a good sign. Shame Kristi is feeling super tired and sleepy or I'd be dragging her out. It's her birthday tomorrow ad she hits 40 I mean 21. I remember my 40th. I spent it in the Rainbow Bar and Grill having Jack and Cokes along with the world's tastiest pizza. Funny, I don't remember my 16th, 18th or 21st, although I do remember the week after my 18th very well, and I am pretty sure I posted that story previously on this forum.

Hmm, Trump isn't going to visit the UK to open the new US embassybecause he doesn't approve of Obama's handling of the sale of the previous one. Funny, that particular deal was set up by the adminstration prior to Obama becoming president and the sale of the old one fully paid for the building of the new one. If he said he wasn't coming over because he is widely loathed over here, that I could have understood, or even if he said he wasn't coming over to open it because it is one ugly looking building I'd have agreed there. Or maybe he only does confrontation at a distance? As for our own political leadership at the moment... Well I saw a post someone had made about how they'd gotten something really simple and easy to do totally and wrong. One of the answers said "Well you really Teressa May'd that one up." I have to say, that woman's voice makes me think of nails being dragged down a chalk board, only so hard that not only do you get the squeeking noise, but the nails also crack and splinter as they are dragged down and you get to see the reminants being pulled out of the fingers.

What is a 'Twist In My Sobriety' anyway? I've been listening to that song for 20 years and still have no idea.

That pirate ship idea is still sounding good. Who is up for it? :D

Well we slept in the living room last night. Me dragging the mattress downstairs helped there. Also meant if Kristi couldn't sleep again tonight she wouldn't just get up out of bed and go downstairs to read to make sure I get a good nights sleep.

Actually both of us got a pretty good nights sleep. For some strange reason the bed seemed larger.

Anyway, I picked up a big bunch of flowers, gave her the big singing Disney snow globe and took her out for the day. We spent the day shopping in Inverness, although for once Kristi didn't ask to wandering around the graveyard where they executed the rebels after the battle of Culloden that I think ER would love to wander around. But then wandering around graveyards seems to be a woman thing. I think I understand why, I mean its the dead centre of town and everyone is dying to get in there (www.badpuns.com).

Kristi has been complaining about how boobs getting bigger. I told her sister and said she should give her advice. Kellie's advice was that I should play with them. Don't think that's quite what Kristi was looking for, but I'll do my best to help.

We had a big snowstorm pass last night and woke up to blue skies and bright sun and lots of the white stuff on the ground. :-)

We went out and rode sleds and made deformed but cheerful snowmen, the children got pulled on inner tubes behind our little lawn tractor while our old dog ran around like a puppy again, burying her muzzle in the drifts and snorting out snow.

We'd stay out until we were cold, then we'd come in and warm up by the fireplace, drink hot chocolate, go back out....come in, go out again... It was a sweet sort of day in the life.

I hope everyone else here in the BMDO family is just as happy and having a good time in whatever way you most enjoy.
