Any tech experts in here? Despite my degree is IST, I STILL can't figure this damn thing..
Basically, my computer is running kind of slow... it's weird, it's like, I'll click on something, nothing happens. I click on it again, nothing. I pause, and then click on it again (several times in a row) and finally it comes up. Sometimes, with things like email messages or stuck and do that and it'll open the message like three or four times. Anyway, it happens with a lot of different stuff, like the icons on my task, I click on them, nothing, try again, finally it works. It's like there's a "delay" or something bringing up the stuff I click on.
Now this doesn't happen all the time, usually it happens when my AVG is running a complete test, so I figured, "Okay, the AVG is being a memory hog." But sometimes it happens after the test is complete.
I check my task menu and it shows the System Idle Process running at NINETY-NINE percent of the CPU. WTF???
I'm not sure what to do.. I've run AVG, I've run Adaware, I've run Spybot Search and Destroy, I've run Spyware Blaster (which supposedly blocks stuff automatically from getting to your drive), I've also defragged the hard drive AND run a registry cleaner.
Not sure what else to try, except maybe just reboot after AVG does it thing (that or turn the "complete test" thing and just run it on occasion when I'm not using the computer, assuming, of course, that's actually the problem.)
If you're wondering, I've got a decent computer (if somewhat old) running on a 2.20 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 with a 128 kilobyte primary memory cache 512 kilobyte secondary memory cache and a Gig of RAM.
Anyway, any ideas, or thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks!
