Writers' Strike

The Strike has gone on for quite some time now, negotiations have broken off, late night side deals, award shows in ruins, surely the Angel of Death looms over Hollywood...

Just curious who comes out of this on top? The studios crying poverty are like the baseball owners crying poverty, you know its BS. However bad ratings and we viewers finding alternate means of entertainment is a threat.

I've been a longtime critic of the quality of writing coming out of Hollywood, but then again it could just be the quality of what the studios are willing to pay for and the deskbound joweled ignorami interfering in projects.  Personally I'm siding with the writers on this. If I understand their point correctly they should get residuals from new forms of media.

I think this is going to be a good thing.  If only because old programs shelved as too off the wall/risky are probably going to be shown just to show something whilst this goes on. 

What I'm really hoping for is that if they do the above, and off the wall odd programs get accepted, the industry will be more willing to experiment and create new ideas rather than rehashing the same old nonsense and 'marketing strategies' to the low common denominator.

Myself, I don't really get affected: Sure I love good tv shows and movies, but I can certainly distract myself with a whole lot of other things if there's nothing good to watch, which there rarely was anyways.
