A parent of one of the kids found the pictures on their child's cell phone and called police. Detectives ...

Since when did parents needs the police to do their job, is this society so damn helpless they can't handle their own problems? IF my kid did this I'd be in the phone with the other parents, not the police. Not to mention the kid would loose the phone and nearly every other from of entertainment they had. Life would suck for some time.

We're all just victims of circumstance

Gee, you actually expect parents to be responsible?!

When my kids were teens, my daughter complained once about the stuff her she caught her brother looking at on the internet.  One day when I was home alone i perused his computer and found the offending material and deleted it.  Having been  a boy of 14 once myself, I didn't throw a big fit about and just waited until we were alone and told him what I did and that if I ever saw it again that he would no longer have a computer.

Since my kids have always pretty much talked to us about just about everything, I knew I could trust him to take me at my word.

One of his friends that got caught looking at porn at got in trouble for it, then when Mom was out of the room, Dad was asking him how to find the porn.

It is a sad fact that there are a lot of parents out there that don't have a clue what their kids are doing and act shocked by what their unsupervised youngsters get into.

My kids have always been good and talked to us and I give the credit to their Mom who stayed home with them when they were small and once they went to school she worked at the school as a volunteer.  I've always been convinced that the biggest problem with public schools is the lack of parent involvement in their kids lives at school and at home.

Well in my house computers/TV's are NOT placed in bedrooms, the kids computers are in common areas, placed so that we (parents) can see what they are doing. There is no MySpace, Chat, facebook,  unapproved downloading or any of that in this house. So I'm a mean evil, fuddy-duddy parent. Even there cellphones are simple and do not have cameras on them.

And as a result I have good kids that do great in school and don't get all sassy like some of the kids in their class I see.

Karma to both CheezeFlixz & Trekgeezer (though Trek's should go to his wife).

I wasn't part of the party, but there was one time in college where some folks I new were having a party, with a couple of parents were present; not only was the liquor flowing but the bong was out as well.  I guess those parents were just trying to be "friends" with their kids.  Parents aren't meant to be friends, they're meant to be parents.

Sounds like a new high tech version of "you show me your wee wee and I'll show you mine".  Seriously, why do junior high kids need cell phones in the first place?  I've seen them in the store chatting it up with their friends and I consider them a menace to society.

All the commentary on parenting I completely agree with.  The gene pool is getting muddy because of parents like this brining offspring into the world.
