Now the years are rolling by me, they are rockin' even me
I am older than I once was, and younger than I'll be, that's not unusual
No it isn't strange, after changes upon changes we are more or less the same
after changes we are more or less the same

In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him
til he cried out in his anger and his shame
I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains

That just about sums up today for me.

I'm fixing a hole
Where the rain comes in
And stops my mind from wandering
Where it will go.

- Recent storms have torn the roof/siding from a significant portion of my barn.  And it is raining/snowing/blowing out.
Joy.

Taxi
Harry Chapin

I've got something inside me
to drive a princess blind
There's a wild man wizard, who's hiding in me
illuminating my mind

I've got something inside me
Not what my life's about
'cause I've been letting my outsides tide me over
'till my time runs out

Thanks for the concern Rev, but no worries: drugs just aren't my style.  I confess I am one of those naive nerds who tends to take Beatles lyrics at face value.  For the most part.   Wink

Down in a Hole by Alice In Chains (unplugged version) pretty much sums up my perspective on the world much of the time:

Bury me softly in this womb
I give this part of me for you
Sand rains down and here I sit
Holding rare flowers
In a tomb...in bloom

Down in a hole and I dont know if I can be saved
See my heart I decorate it like a grave
You dont understand who they
Thought I was supposed to be
Look at me now a man
Who wont let himself be

Down in a hole, losin my soul
Down in a hole, out of control
Id like to fly,
But my wings have been so denied

Down in a hole and theyve put all
The stones in their place
Ive eaten the sun so my tongue
Has been burned of the taste
I have been guilty
Of kicking myself in the teeth
I will speak no more
Of my feelings beneath

Down in a hole, losin my soul
Down in a hole, out of control
Id like to fly but my
Wings have been so denied

Bury me softly in this womb
Oh I want to be inside of you
I give this part of me for you
Oh I want to be inside of you
Sand rains down and here I sit
Holding rare flowers (oh I want to be inside of you)
In a tomb...in bloom
Oh I want to be inside...

Down in a hole, feelin so small
Down in a hole, losin my soul
Down in a hole, feelin so small
Down in a hole, outta control
Id like to fly but my
Wings have been so denied

This song has nothing to do with my life right now, but since it's Klaus I'll post it gratuitously.

"Blind" by M. Gira:

Now some of us are weak
And some endure
Some people live their lives
With a violence that's pure and clean
But i saw a man cry once
Down on his knees
In the corner of a darkened cell
And his pain meant nothing to me
But I was younger then
And young men never die
When I walked out in the sun
I was strong, clear minded
And blind

Now don't say a prayer for anyone
It doesn't do any good
And please don't ask me a question
You'll just be misunderstood
And if you could step inside me
You'd feel what hated brings
And if you saw with my eyes
You'd see what self deception means
I was younger once
And I created a lie
And though my body was strong
I was self deluded, confident
And blind
Now show some pity
For the weak of will
Because when we're drinking
We can never be filled
And show some understanding
For the lonely fool
Because when I'm drinking
I am out of control
No I was never young
And nothing has transpired
And when I look in the mirror
I feel dead, I feel cold
I am blind

Matchbox Twenty - Unwell

"All day
Staring at the ceiling making
Friends with shadows on my wall
All night
I'm hearing voices telling me
That I should get some sleep
Because tomorrow might be good
For something

Hold on
I'm feeling like I'm headed for a
Breakdown
I don't know why

(chorus)
I'm not crazy I'm just a little unwell
I know right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me
I'm not crazy I'm just a little impaired
I know right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be

See me
Talking to myself in public
And dodging glances on the train
I know
I know they've all been talking 'bout me
I can hear them whisper
And it makes me think there must be something wrong
With me

Out of all the hours thinking
Somehow
I've lost my mind

(chorus)

Talking in my sleep
Pretty soon they'll come to get me
They'll be taking me away"

Huzzah, it's perfect.

Save the whales
Hey funky mama, save the whales
Yeah, pretty baby, save the whales
Save those big fat funky whales

Yeah, save all the whales
WO-OH!
And shoot the seals

Yeah, shoot the seals
'Cause the seals eat all the fish
Shoot the seals
Oh, I will never know how it feels

And if you think that I'm too funky for wantin' to shoot all the seals
Save your breath
