I haven't made the leap into HD yet, but figured some of you have and wouldn't mind knowing this little tidbit.

I'm not going to have the money to make the jump anytime in the near future.

I've got a collection of well over 700 DVD's (more if you consider that a lot of those are multiple movie sets) and my wallet can't commit to re-buying my collection all over again like I did when I went from VHS to DVD about 7 years ago.

Same here.  I've got a daughter starting college later this year.  I'll be lucky if I can afford to browse the bargain bins for regular DVDs, much less drop a grand on a new TV, especially considering the old one is still perfectly good.  But you never know, there's always the possibility I'll find a pile of money laying in the street or something  Smile

You found a Blu-ray player for $40????!!!! What's the model? I haven't seen one for less than about $220.00.

Is it a true Blu-ray player or is it just a regular player that will read Blu-ray but doesn't have 1080p output?

I was waiting for the new disc wars to be over before I make a leap to new technology.  Now that it's coming to an end, I'm still not jumping yet, as I want to wait for prices to come down across the board before I move up.

With my paltry income tax refund I broke down and bought a Blu-ray player.  Now, I don't have to worry about the format wars.  I've got all the bases covered...(found on for under $250, too  TeddyR)
