What is Grimace? Many have asked this very question. Seriously though, what does a purple blob have to do with McDonalds?

It's what you find in the toilet after eating at McDonald's.

At one point someone wrote a well written conspiracy theory on the subject.  Unfortunately I can't find the article but it involves Grimace being the symbolism of a chemical put in McDonald's food that makes it addicting.

All I can tell you is, nothing can stop the Grimace.

Semi-obscure reference.  Somewhat.

The next logical question would be:  "what does real food have to do with McDonalds?"

I honestly don't know how it could be addictive.  The stuff is just awful!

Come on people! It's so obvious what he is! look at his shape...clearly he is either a chicken nugget or one of their fish patties after going rotten.

The first place I'd heard it used was in the way Torgo quoted it as "Nothing can kill the Grimace", which was in an episode of the "Clerks" animated series. Not sure if they were making a joke by quoting it from somewhere else or just doing some random piece of hilarity on their own, but I didn't find this amazing piece of ear candy while searching for other references...

Damn, I didn't even see he did it.  Now I feel bad.

Don't feel bad HG, I was hoping I'd be the first to make the joke too, but it looks like neither of us should ever challenge the man to a duel, as he is faster on the draw.  TongueOut

Grimace used to be a man, until he started eating at McDonalds all the time.

From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonaldland#Characters):

"Grimace is a large, purple being of indeterminate species with short arms and legs; he is known for his monotonous face and slow-witted demeanor. His most common expression is the word "duh". Originally, Grimace was the "Evil Grimace", with two pairs of arms with which to steal milkshakes. After that first campaign, the character was revised to be one of the "good guys", and his number of arms was reduced by two. Commercials and merchandise generally portrayed him as a well-meaning simpleton, whose clumsy antics provided a comic foil to Ronald McDonald. The character was retained after the streamlining of the characters in the '80s, but was dropped in 2007."

So apparently the suits in marketing can kill the Grimace.
