Mine (see if you can spot which songs they're from)

1.   "Wrapped up like a douche, another runnner in the night"   (mishead from "Blinded by the Light" as sung by Manfred Mann's Earth Band.  The lyric is actually supposed to be "revved up like a deuce")

2.   "there's a bathroom on the right"

I never understood the lyrics to Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana.

The chorus goes like this:

"With the lights out its less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
Yea"

See the lines that read:
A mosquito My libido...

For years I always thought Cobain sang, "I'm a snail...I'm a beetle"

The first part of the chorus is great, I think.. it captures teen impulsiveness pretty well.  Stupid and contagious.  =)   The rest of it sounds like something written on a napkin and sung later, to fill space.

I'm a beetle... that's a good one.

My best friend used to think that Boston's "Peace of Mind" went like,  "All I want is to have my piece of pie."

Oh, and how could I forget?  "'scuse me while I kiss this guy."

I've posted this before somewhere, but my sister always understood the chorus of Linkin Park's "Crawling" as:

"I'm crawling in my skin, the spoons they will not hear."

Classics from my youth are Foreigner's "It's virgin" and Bananarama's "I'm your penis" (urgent and Venus, respectively).

How about those folks who think Stewie's line in "The Family Guy" themesong is "effin' cry" when he's singing "laugh and cry."

Here's one I wonder about: On Alice In Chains' "It's Over Now," it sounds to me like Cantrell sings "We pay our debts on time," whereas all the 'published' lyrics say "We pay our debts sometimes."

Arguably the #1 misheard/misinterpreted song for lyrics is "Sister Christian" by Night Ranger, at least in the classic rock genre.

After watching Family Guy several times, I switched on the subtitles and I kid you not, it actually said, "effin' cry".
That was on Cartoon Network.
I've put the subtitles on many times after that and it always says, "laugh and cry".
(that was on TBS)
It only happened that one time.
My guess is whoever did the captioning for that particular episode thought it'd be amusing to put "effin' cry".
That, or they actually thought it was "effin cry".

Jimi Hendrix, "Excuse me while I kiss the sky".  "Excuse me while I kiss this guy" as featured on a related topic calender.

In Van Halen's song Everybody Wants Some!, theres a point where David Lee Roth says something that songs like "Haauuuunwiiwahwahwahmoo-pee".  Its supposed to be something like "I'm traveling late at night looking for a moon beam."

I'm always making up lyrics;
Miss Murder by AFI
Real Lyric: "Hey Miss Murder can I make beauty stay if I take my life."
My Version:" Hey Miss Murder can I make you stay if I change my life."

Personal Jesus by Depeche Mode:
Real Lyric: "Someone to hear your prayers, someone who cares."
My Version: "Someone to hear your cares, someone whos there."

theres more believe me...

Fascinating.  When I hear it, it is absolutely clear to me he says "laugh and cry."  I never even thought of the other.

I wonder if this is partly the source of this 'rumor.'  This is one of those ones that makes the 'Net rounds.

On the John Boy and Billy "Big Show" (morning radio), they poke fun of mishearing lyrics with a mock PSA spot for "Chronic Lyricosis."  They come up with some doozies.

In George Michael's song "Club Tropicana", the chorus starts:

"Club Tropicana, drinks are free"

But I always thought it said:

"The coloured comic books are free"     BounceGiggle

I didn't understand why he would sing that.  But if fits with the cadence very well.

My six year old loves all the songs on Madagascar. Still to this day when she watches it, I hear her in her room chanting "i like this movie, movie..." instead of 'i like to move it move it..."

I have a tendency to hear dirty things in songs when they aren't there;

For example, the dance song "Facinated" by Company B in the 80s.

Real lyric: "Love me until the morning light"
My version:  Replace "love" with a four letter vulgarity

Ok so my heads in the gutter.   Bluesad

ZAP- I always thought it was "wrapped up like a douche" too.

 Carly Simon's "Your so Vain"...
Real lyric-"I had a dream there were clouds in my coffee-"
I always thought it said "-clowns in my coffee."

John Cougar - Jack and Diane.

Real lyric:  "Let the Bible Belt, come and save your soul".
I always thought it said "Let the bottle bounce, come and save your soul".  Never could figure out the thing with the bouncing bottle.

There's some Van Hagar song that goes:  "You want a lover, you want a friend, honey I could be both of them".
I always change it to be:  "You want a lover, you want a friend, honey you want lots of them".  Seems more realistic to me.
