The first things you will notice
1. damn, linda blair looks hot.
2. that guys looks like jon Hedder (napolean Dynamite)
Even with the baggage of a perm, a haristyle that smelled as bad as it looked, and more make up than a thai hooker, Blair switches it up in a way you never expected and that is to be commended. and this movie is very well done for the slight story that it is. It's generally entertaining, likeably goofy and actually funny in places as well as visually a perfect 70's time capsule. This is the type of movie Will Ferrel has made a career of parodying though I doubt he's seen it. So why didn't i love it?
Well, unlike "the apple" or "can't stop the music" this is actually kind of good, technically. which is too bad, because you keep waiting for some ridiculous roller fights or clothes stripping roller derby that never happens. It's like a musical except the stars don't sing. . to cleancut, too well done, not enough exploitation and bad acting. I'm the consumer and that's what I like.
and it has every cliche: we have to save the place all us kids go from real estate developers, romeo and Juliet rich girl / poor guy love story. will the hero make it the world of roller skating? does he have what it takes? etc
here's a goofy ass montage with one of the movies crappy songs
