I just started playing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and it is FAN-tastic!!!  So, what do you feel is the best video game ever made.

Really a hard question to answer.

Reallly hard.

I think it's partially caught up in the time of one's life that one played a given game.

My answer would probably be the original Marathon, because that is the game I played in the original days of LAN parties, flattening my college buddies in the arena with the rocket launcher and burning them with a flamethrower.

But the original Escape Velocity was such a great time, too..  and the original Pirates... and damn!  The original Dungeon Master on the Amiga!  How fun was that?  That might be the best game ever.

Oh!  And Pathways Into Darkness...  What about Nethack,  I still play that 18 years later... been playing that half my life now.   Played a hell of a lot of Starcraft.

When Starcraft II comes out, that'll be my new favorite...

Helpful answer?

Personally I think this is the only best fps ever made. Even after years and years I still can play it and not be bored!

That's how I feel about the original Doom, Doom 2, and Final Doom.  The graphics are way outdated but I still like to play those original Doom games.  I loved Doom 3, but I don't have the urge to go back and replay it.  Right now I am really into this game called The Movies.  It came out a couple of years ago but I didn't know about it until I recently found it really cheap in a bargain bin.  It's a Sim type game where you run a movie studio, but I don't really like that part of it.  What I like about it is that you can bypass the Sim mode for the most part, and just make movies.  I'm working on my first movie and am having a blast with it.

My favorite of all time would be Fear Effect 2:  Retro Helix for the PS1.  So many different environments, great characters (definitely the best voice acting that I've ever heard in a game, by far), and the gameplay was downright engrossing.  They were going to make a Fear Effect 3 for the PS2, but the project was dropped.  Man, that just SUCKS!!!

I've also finished Smash TV for the NES about 7 or 8 times, so that's gotta rank up there pretty high.

probably Elder Scrolls III : Morrowind.  I have a lot of love for Oblivion, but the music, the ambience, and the storyline of the GOTY edition of Morrowind make it the most engaging game I have ever played.

Golden Eye was so much fun.  The first time I played it was at my best friend's house and we spent a couple of hours on multiplayer.  For some reason we started to get fits of laughter and would crack up whenever either of us were killed.

Here're most of my favorites (a lot are SNES games):  Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Chrono Trigger, Yoshi's Island, Final Fantasy VII, Donkey Kong Country 1 & 2, Tetris, Galaga, Contra, Killer Instinct, Soul Edge, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Starfox, Starcraft

I've always been drawn to Flashback and Master Blaster but I suck at them.  Oh, and I think I lost my save game on Earthbound a while back but I was really enjoying that game.

There are 5 series of games that I have to say are my favorites, I enjoy them all equally, in no particular order they are, Metroid Prime, Prince of Persia, Resident Evil, The Legend of Zelda, and Final Fantasy Crystal Caravans. This last one is the exception to the list, as far as I know there is only the one version of this, the others all have a continuing story line. The little woman and I have probably spent a total of several months all together playing these games.

The God of War games are great.
Golden Eye was a lot of fun and that's saying something because I normally don't like First Person shooters.
Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time I think was the best LOZ game: Magoria Mask was ok. Wind Waker had you spending way too much time sailing and just getting from point A to point B.  Haven't played Twilight Princess-my gamecube broke and there arn't enough good looking games for the Wii that I would buy one.

Going back in time, one of my favorite games was Golden Axe for the Sega Genesis  I'm looking forward to the new one comming out for PS3

Serious thread necromancy at work today!
Revising my opinion from 8 years ago, I'd probably have to say that ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM is my favorite game ever, with DARK SOULS II running a close second.

Behold the power of the great Zrotri Namcap!

Kidding aside; I’m just bored, & I’m trying to stay away from debate threads, which are disheartening.

Skyrim was a lot of fun.
So was Fallout 4.

So are FTL and Into the Breach.  (I have been playing those a lot lately.)

I wish I could play the most recent God of War game -- that one looks awesome and well done.  But I'm not going to be an own-two-consoles guy.
