Am I really the first person to bring up Nacho Cerda's 'Aftermath'?

It's a short film, about 30 minutes, of a mortician having his way with the dead body of a woman.  I'm not really sure what the point of it all is and it's certainly not meant to be arousing but the most alarming thing about it is that no matter how twisted the premise is.  No matter how absolutely nasty and revolting the scenes of corpse rape are, it's an extraordinarily well-made film.  The photography and lighting are in stark contrast of the film's content.  The special effects are even outstanding.  But nothing can prepare you for what you see in that movie.

Cannibal Corpses song, F'd With A Knife comes to mind.

RapscallionJones,

I didn't bring up Aftermath as I assumed it had already been mentioned.  That's what happens when a post is TLDR.

Anyway, Aftermath is a film that I feel bad for liking.  The content is so off putting, so disgusting...yet the film itself is beautifully done.  I have the film on DVD with another of Cerda's shorts, the name of which escapes me at the moment.  I highly recommend it.

Begotten is another one that I forgot to mention.  That film is all shades of f**ked up!  Once you see Jesus disembowel himself, you don't get shocked by many other things on celluloid.

AFTERMATH was listed as one of the original 10 sickest movies in the article.

I don't know if I should be proud, ashamed, or what, but when I watched AFTERMATH it had absolutely no effect on me.  I vaguely remember the autopsy footage but I was unimpressed, even bored, by the movie.  I'm apparently the only person in the entire world who has had that reaction.

I also didn't find BEGOTTEN to be disturbing, though more memorable than AFTERMATH.  It had a very interesting, even intense, look. The imagery in BEGOTTEN is so murky that I think it could be truly disturbing, if you let your mind supply the missing details.  It's truly a visual Rorschach test.  But I think it was basically just an experiment in form that needed to be a 5-10 minute short instead of a full length movie.

I mentioned Aftermath in this string of forums. its one of my favs, although it did end a relationship quite suddenly after i made a guy sit through it with me... i think that may have made me like it even more...
So here's my Aftermath story.

Back when I was in college, I had to do this business plan project with a couple of guys and we were all going apes**t because we didn't want to have to stand in front of the class and do this presentation about our business.  I pitched the group this idea for a bootleg video dealer like the ones you used to see around the internet all the time like Blackest Heart or Video Wasteland and my solution to beating the stage fright was to make a video compilation of a bunch of violent scenes from horror movies and martial arts flicks.  I figured, the class would be so fixated on the clips, they wouldn't even pay attention to us... and I was right.  The Q&A session at the end went something like this:

Q: What was that movie where the girl throws up her guts?
A: City of the Living Dead

Q: Have you ever seen Dawn of the Dead?  That movie is awesome.
A: Yes.

Q: What was the one with the girl flying around all the Japanese guys freaking out?
A: The Bride With White Hair and they're Chinese.

Q: How do you plan on selling copies of licensed videotapes?  Isn't that illegal?
A: The Byrne Act states that a bootleg sourced from a movie with no domestic license is fair game.

So, naturally, people start asking questions about my collection.  The most frequent was "What is the nastiest movie you own?"  I would always preface my reply by insisting that I wound up with the movie by accident and in spite of its alarming content, it's actually a very well made movie.  I had become friendly with a girl who sat behind me and she insisted that she see it.  I refused for a long time before I relented.  She got the warning and took the tape home.  The next day, she handed me the tape in silence and never so much as made eye contact with me again.  Since then, I have shown it to no one and for some reason, I felt compelled to shell out for the Unearthed release on DVD with Genesis and that other short.

I just saw "The Girl Next Door", and it really ashould be in this thread. It's a movie based on a ral event in the 50s, when a disturbed woman locked her nephew in the basement ant tortured her for days untilk she died. It's no graphic at all, most of the violence is off-screen.

What really makes it extremely unerving is that most of the violence is carried out by children, and that there's absolutely no reason for it. Neither is the victim the usual slasher victim that somehow has it coming. It's a movie about an innocent girl going through an ordeal for no reason at all, and by the time I was finishing watching it I couldn't take it anymore.

Not your usual horror movie. In every board I've mentioned I've told people not to watch it, and not because I secrectly expected them to do it.

if you thought the movie was bad, avoid the book;  i'm a huge fan of jack ketchum, but that was one i couldnt' finish..

I really didn't think Salo was that bad. I mean, if you've ever read any Marquis de Sade you know how silly it all is. The 120 days of Sodom quickly goes from disgusting story to just a list of disgusting acts. And when I say disgusting, I don't mean it that way. It's so over-the-top that it's basically pure comedy.

The movie is boring, on top of being ridiculous. I guess it's worth seeing if you like trashy flicks, but you probably won't lose any sleep over it.

I mostly agree with you on SALO, tpjazz.

"The 120 Days of Sodom" is, basically, just a list of sadomasochistic fantasies, increasing in intensity and cruelty.  I don;t think Sade ever intended it as any sort of art, unlike his erotic novels.  All indications are Sade wrote it to help him get his rocks off while his was locked up in the Bastille and there were no hookers available to flog.  That Passolini could take this pure pornography, make the torturers into Fascists and sell this to the arthouse crowd as a poetic indictment of Fascism is one of the great con jobs in movie history.

The only part I don't agree with you on is that either SALO or "120 Days' ever becomes comedy.  To me torturing people to death for sexual pleasure is never funny, not matter how absurd and over-the-top it becomes.

Anyway it's always nice to find someone who's read the Divine Marquis.

I just finished watching AU's Mordum for the second time, and I enjoyed it a bit more than when I first saw it. I watched it alone on my big screen with the surround sound cranked, that seems like the best way to enjoy a movie. I think the film is extremity for extremities sake, but there's nothing wrong with that. Sure, all the near constant swearing and screaming gets a little tedious at times, and there are a few spots where the film lapses into...well, not much, but all the button pushing gore and depravity makes it somewhat worthwhile. Plus, I think Crusty is really, really cute. She could puke on me anytime.  Drink

Sounds alot like Zoo, which is a documentary which was on IFC awhile back. Its the true story of a man who died from a ruptured colon after having sex with his horse and it then goes on to a random series of interviews about the cons and pros (what the hell could the pros be???) of beastiality. I caught about ten minutes of it, and that was enough...
