Everybody has their movie or movies that they know are bad, but I mean so bad that chances are even people on this board don't like 'em! I'm not talking about movies you feel are genuinely well made movies that you can't seem to understand other peoples' dislike for, I mean the stuff that you know is terrible, you understand why people don't like it, yet for some reason you have to watch it every time it's on TV. They just have a place in your heart... or deep in your lower intestines somewhere... like a polyp. If you can't think of five, that's cool, but I hope I'm not the only one with this mental illness that has baffled leading psychologists for years.  TongueOut

mine:
Stone Cold - Brian Bosworth plays clean shaven, mullet wielding undercover cop Joe Huff, who infiltrates a gang of bearded, unwashed, balding bikers led by Lance Henriksen who plan to save their leader from the long arm of Johnny Law by shooting up the courthouse at his upcoming trial.

Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man - A motorcycle enthusiast (Mickey Rourke) and a modern day cowboy (Don Johnson) reunite to save their friend's bar by robbing an armored truck. Turns out they accidentally stole a synthetic super drug instead of money, so now they're on the run from an evil drug cartel of mafia bankers and their steroid pumped super goons.

Car 54 Where Are You? - Laid back NYPD officer (David Johanson) is teamed with stick-up-his-butt prude cop (John McGinley) to protect a mob informant (Jeremy Piven) until he can go to trial and testify against a criminal kingpin (Daniel Baldwin). Insert wacky situation, rinse, repeat. Also featuring Fran Drescher, Nipsey Russell, Penn & Teller, Al "Grandpa Munster" Lewis, and everybody's favorite: Rosie O'Donnell.

Body Slam - Dirk Benedict plays a down-and-out band promoter named Harry Smilac (wasn't that the poison used by the Joker in Batman to make everybody a grinning corpse? Wink) who comes up with the brilliant idea of mixing rock 'n' roll with professional wrestling. Can his ragtag tag team of Roddy Piper and Sam Fatu capture the tag team championships from the rule breaking Samoans before Harry loses his life to gangsters he's indebted to? Also featuring Tanya Roberts, Captain Lou Albano, Charles Nelson Reilly, Billy Barty, John Astin, and a handful of classic old skool wrestling stars, including Ric Flair.

No Holds Barred - Another movie about wrestling, this one features Hulk Hogan in his first starring role as heavyweight champion "Rip" and introduced the world to Tommy Lister, who played his nemesis Zeus. An evil TV exec named Brell (Kurt Fuller) creates a no holds barred fighting competition called "Battle of the Tough Guys" where everyday brutes beat each senseless in various macho settings like a honky tonk bar and a steel mill. The top guy is a cross-eyed juggernaut named Zeus who wants championship wrestler Rip to fight him inside a wrestling ring for the show's season finale. At first Rip says no (what's a pro wrestler know about actual fighting?), but when Brell and Zeus put Rip's younger brother in a wheelchair, we have ourselves a main event... where Rip becomes a murderer and throws Zeus off of a balcony and Brell gets electrocuted... As you can imagine, this one includes more cameos by wrestlers, most notable being former Minnesota governor Jess Ventura as an announcer and AWA favorite Stan "the Lariat" Hansen as a dirty bar tuff who has a "classic" scene where he points out that a pair of Grell's suited lackeys in a bar mens' room have "teeny wieners". It's almost as ridiculous to watch as a scene where "Rip" roughs up an evil chauffeur, only to ask him "What's that smell?!" when the little man is within his grasp. The guy's reply? "D-d-d-dookie"...  Drink

Honestly, The Ice Cream Man is probably in my "top 5" for movies that genuinely scared me with how absolutely twisted it was. The effed-up mental-hospital flashback scenes (Along with the cops' return to the asylum to find how screwed-up and degraded it has become), the kids in peril without exploitively killing off any of them, the kids' PARENTS, neighborhood, and what a screwed-up situation they're in on a daily basis, "Small Paul"'s fate, the fact that it was all directed by a porno man really turned my head... Though most people who've watched the film watch it and laugh their heads off, I can see why they would, but I, for some reason took it seriously and freaked out Buggedout

I really liked the jungle atmosphere of Dance of the Dwarfs despite how bad the film was, and how completely it differed from the novel. The interspersed lame humor was pretty fun, as was the the first bandit's death.

Moonbase is a good SciFi channel memory from before the station totally sucked. I own it on VHS right now and even though there is really nothing special to say, I find it is a good, time-wasting actioner.

Another SciFi memory, I used to think Neon Maniacs was really a great film, it took one of my friends to explain to me how much it sucked XD. I still like it though, as I think many people here also have a soft spot for it.

Shriek if you know what I did last Friday the 13th was released around the same exact time as Scary Movie and shared the same basic premise. I've met many people who prefer the latter and call the former a ripoff, fewer who prefer the former and call the latter a ripoff, and many more who hate them both, but I think I may be the one person who likes both films, despite how juvenile they are BounceGiggle

Though I think I missed the point of the thread, I am actually quite proud of being part of the smaaaallllll minority of people who like these films TongueOut and personally love being able to proclaim how odd I am to the world! See you in the institution, Anuby!

These are the top 5 I can think of for now.

1.) Josie And The p***ycats: I've said before and I'll say it again, its brilliant.

2.) Mrs. Doubtfire:  People are usually shocked when I tell them I like this film.  I've seen it several times and it never seems to get old to me.  I think Robin Williams shines in the film where many people find him generally annoying.

3.) Xanadu:  Yes I'm a heathen for liking it and so be it.  To me, most musicals suck so why not enjoy the one thats the worst.  The thing I'm most "embarrassed" about is that I think the soundtrack is catchy too.

4.) Ace Ventura When Nature Calls:  Still one of the funniest films I've ever seen IMO.

5.) Superman 3:  Looking back, I liked it more as a kid but I still enjoy it.

I'll save a seat for ya Mr. B! And, oddly enough, I finally sat down and watched Shriek If You Know... recently. It too is quickly becoming another addition to my list despite how much part of me wishes it weren't. Heh heh  Lookingup

I am not embarrassed by any of my favorite b-list horror films.  That's not to say there aren't movies I'm embarrassed to like:

"Before Sunrise" & "Before Sunset" - I guess they'd both fall into the romantic comedy genre, but I don't care... they're both beautiful films!!!

"My Date With Drew" - It was cute, what can I say!  And how many people out there honestly have never wondered what it would be like to go on a date with their celebrity crush.  My hat goes off to that guy!

"Raising Arizona" - I'm not embarrassed to say I like this movie, but I feel like I'm constantly defending myself whenever I tell someone I think it's the greatest movie ever made!

"The Blair Witch Project" and "Scream" - I think people forget how groundbreaking these two movies were.  The late-80's/early 90's were such a dry period for horror films, and then along come two movies that were completely original at the time, and that changed EVERYTHING!!!  Unfortunately, since the release of "The Blair Witch Project", the only horror films I will truly vouch for as being masterpieces are "Shaun of the Dead", and "Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon"... everything else is forgettable, and I'm willing to defend that statement if necessary.

Transformers (1985)- This is a true guilty pleasure the whole way through. The hokey likes, the 80's soundtrack, the "Weird Al Fight Scene", I love every moment of this movie but whenever I watch it, it usually tends to be alone (my brother showed some interest in it once but has yet to view it)

Sailor Moon- (c. 90's) I can say it's a classic of the 90's and a part of my early life until the cows come home but some people laugh and call me an anime nut because "nostalgic" is a nice word. Anytime somebody would walk through the room they'd mimic whatever was said at that moment in a high, nasal tone. My Ex was really into it, though, and I hold onto the collection not only for memories (of good times in my life, I'm not a dope) and the fact that it's a classic but also because it also cost me $140. You don't toss that aside  Lookingup

That's pretty much it, though, since my movie tastes are pretty well established and accepted by those I know; gift shopping for me is possibly the easiest ever  TongueOut

Grunt! The Wrestling Movie: One of the cheapest looking films you're ever likely to find. Poorly acted, cheap in every regard. Keep an eye out for scene stealing from the one and only Dick Murdoch and also from Exotic Adrian Street. A comedic parody take on the world of pro wrestling, this film actually wasn't far off on predicting what the future world of wrestling would actually look like in some respects as wrestling today is in fact often little more than a comedic parody of itself. I loved it.

I Like To Hurt People: This movie focused on the Original Sheik from professional wrestling who made the claim "I Like To Hurt People". Best thing about this is it features some classic old-school wrestling footage especially featuring Abdullah the Butcher and the Sheik vs. the Funk Brothers. Pretty bad overall and often slow-moving, it definitely proved fun viewing to me.

The Incredible Hulk Returns: Very cheesy Hulk TV film based on characters from the 70s-80s TV series. Actually features perhaps the cheesiest version of Thor ever.

Lost In Space (1998): Most people thought this pretty bad but I thought it was great fun and actually quite true to the adventurous spirit of the TV series. The big mistake was the changes made to Dr. Smith.

Captain America (1990): cheesy rubber costumes doesn't hurt my enjoyment of this cheapie. At least it's got the Red Skull in it.

I'm proud to say that there isn't a single movie that I like that I am embarrassed about.  With all the idiotic movies that come out these days that people flock to see, some of which actually even win awards, why should I be embarrassed?

I've enjoyed several Pauly Shore movies, most notable "Bio-Dome" and "Encino Man."

I started rewatching old episodes of "Power Rangers" last summer and was shocked and totally embarassed to discover the show was still really, really entertaining.

I am there with you. I am so in the closet over that one, I didn't think of it. I never had anyone that would watch that with me. I own it.. In fact I have probably bought it 3 times for one reason or another. It's one of the few movies I have watched over and over. In fact.... I am just remembering I loaned it to someone that I will never see again....hmmmm. I have had to buy this film at least 4 times  Twirling

Battlefield Earth
Amidst howls of protest, I really like this movie.  In spite of glaring errors with the science and common sense side of things, it was very intertaining.  The Psychlos were gross and nasty and violent and they all completely overacted, which made them all the more menacing.

Centre Stage
Average run of the mill Fame-like story about a group of dancers struggling to live their dreams.  Apart from Peter Gallagher and Susan May Pratt, I didn't know any of the other actor/dancers.  But that was a good thing.  They could all actually dance.  I like this way better than Fame (which was dated and crap).  I guess there's a frustrated dancer inside me.

Waterworld
Completely trashed when it came out, but I love it.  Entertaining and reasonably believeable.  But then I had a major crush on Kevin Costner in his hey day.

Burglar
A hidden gem of a movie as only the 80s could do it, with Bobcat Goldthwaite doing his manic best.  I especially loved the hidden room Whoopi had in her closet.

Atomic Twister
Made for tv movie with Sharon Lawrence.  It was cliched and lame, but I was still entertained and the special effects were pretty good for a low budget time waster.  I really love movies where the plucky heroine saves the day despit the odds stacked against her.  And if she can do it in a tight skirt and high heels without getting overly dirty, then that's all the better!
