Not a huge fan of punk rock, though I do like the Pistols in small doses.

Here's one I like:

Dead Milkmen - Punk Rock Girl

These guys were locals and were hitting their stride when I was growing up in the Philly area.  Never saw them play live, but I appreciated the humor they brought to the genre.

I have one of their cd's so far.  Hard to find them in a major store chain like FYE or Hot Topic, despite the fact that they're from the area.  Although, I found a used record store that had a bunch of their albums, one of which was them live at the Troc.

Damn...there are some other punk fans here!  Awesome additions there too -love the Cramps -can't believe I didn't include them in my first post.  Always loved "Naked Girl Fallin Down the Stairs" and "Bikini Girls with Machine Guns" hahaha

Dead Milkmen were never my favorite although I do like them better now in retrospect -was never into the Cow Punk but I'm liking it now -in fact, just heard that same song on CD101 in Columbus just a couple days ago!  Bauhaus kick ass too; love "God in an Alcove"- didn't they evolve into Love and Rockets?

I'd say my favorite punk bands are Black Flag and the Misfits.  The Misfits is always great, especially with their b-movie themes but they really grew on me something fierce when I had this old Ford in the 90s and the Misfits tape got stuck in the deck for about 8 months.

Also, I'm not sure how to find any videos from it, but I used to have this tape called "World Class Punk" (I will look that sh!t up and post anything I find) -but it had some really great punk songs from around the world sans the US and Britain (as they were already well-documented).  I mean, it's totally surreal to hear Japanese, Austrian, Russian, and even Tibetian punk ...couldn't understand most of it but that's how punk goes most of the time anyway.  I remember one group in particular was called "The Campbells Soup Kids" lol.

Also, if anyone's interested, you should check out the DVD for "American Hardcore" which documents the 80s hardcore era of punk pretty in-depth.  Great documentary with a lot of nice footage.  Love how they talk about the era of playing shows wherever (backyards, subways, parking lots, etc,) and living on next to nothing.  The total inverse of the commercial pap nerf makeup hair metal bands of the time.  Here's a summary link:

I have yet to see "decline of western civilization part 1" but I hear it has a lot of great punk footage.  Anyone elaborate on that who's seen it?  Here's a link:

Awesome contributions!  And I'm really glad no one has posted any g!d!mned mall punk lol!

I own a copy of DECLINE of WESTERN CIVILIZATION Pt.I.....my take...

Lotsa bands ...mostly from the west coast scene. VERY early 80's! Pre Henry Rollins, even Dez Cadena-era BLACK FLAG...some Puerto Ricacan guy named Ron does the vocal chores. The vid you posted of FLAG doing 'Depression 'is from the movie.
Also covered are CIRCLE JERKS-Excellent!, X (lotsa interview),the GERMS with amazing concert footage with Darby Crash and some REALLY amazing interview  footage with Darby and his girlfreind (who looks alot like  Cortney Love!), some crappy band called CATHOLIC DISCIPLINE, ALICE BAGS (ugh...), and some wild-ass footage of FEAR duking it out with a fan on stage!  It also has lotsa interview with punk kids...and its worth the investment,IMHO.

For another great punk film,British style, try the PUNK ROCK MOVIE...it features the SEX PISTOLS,the SLITS,SLAUGHTER and the DOGS,EATER,WAYNE/JAYNE COUNTY, GENERATION X,the CLASH,X RAY SPEX and lots more...! I usta have it on tape...but alas...no'mo'. Bluesad

Here's a clip from the film....I really like SLAUGHTER and the DOGS....the second band is EATER. The clip has p**s poor visual quality. The tape I had was very good quality. I bought it in NY back in 1984 or so.

Like RC I own Decline Of Western Civilization (As well as the other two, Heavy Metal years which is actually really fun and one about gutter/crust punks who live on the street). RC summed it up pretty good as it mostly early Bay Area/ L.A. punk and hardcore.

Other good documentary would be "Punks Not Dead" which compareds underground punk to "Van Warp" punk. Shows guys like The Adicts, U.K. Subs, The Damned still playing little clubs after all these years and compare to all those mall punk bands trying to say they didn't "sell out". pretty good interviews all around from both sides though.

I think the guy was a total dick but I like the documentary Hated about G.G Allin.

My fave punk bands are probably Bad Brains and Misfits. Motorhead are pretty punk rock IMO but they are more of a heavy blues rock band.

I'd agree with you about Motorhead.  They have some punk mentalities going.
