A big surprise. Really very compelling drama about a janitor who tries to teach some snot nosed suburban kids about the meaning of the bible. Alot of the acting is pretty terrible, but the director shows some creativity and he seems interested in the truth, giving it a strong foundation and substance. There are some great scenes: the pastors son gives a scathing sermon about the contradiction between the church's alleged mission and what it has become: a bunch of board members deciding what kind of new addition they want and just a general emphasis on keeping up appearences. and there is real tension when Morell, the janitor, fights the temptation to use drugs. I would like to have seen the redhead a little more, though. This is not all that far away from "Napolean Dynamite" and hipsters should give it a shot.
it's a brave little film and even if you don't like the message it works as a " bad movie" so something for everyone.
