I was just going to post this, but you beat me to it. So, I'll give you this link instead.

Note that at the time, they still thought that it would start up end 2007. The projected date, according to the LHC website, is May 2008. On a similar note, one of the reasons why Hitler wasn't very enthousiastic about developing nuclear bombs was that he feared that the chain reaction would go wild and destroy the world.

No worries, it happens all the time.

Super-fast particels originating from planet Bogus a couple of hundreds of lightyears from earth collide with the earth's atmosphere all the time, releasing 1017 times the energy that will be produced at CERN. And because Bogus is located at a distinct direction to the earth it only happens at one side of our rotating planet. So what we see at night is really the sum of a fantastazillion tiny black holes...turning the sky black!

Lookingup This sounds so much like Into The Looking Glass (scifi story) where this machine was built for whatever research purpose involving Higg's bosons: the head guy said "let's see what happens" and hit the switch.

The university, town and neighboring community for miles was obliterated in a matter of seconds and a portal to anther dimension openned up Buggedout

I think researchers should read more.
