Either he's dead or my watch has stopped!

Ash, perhaps inadvertently, challenged all of us to make the site more interesting.  I had decided to try and hold up my end of the circus tent...

MENARD is back.  Though he deigns not to register with us, and in case you hadn't noticed, MENARD has been posting in threads and starting threads of his own (with the expected and ubiquitously coy titles i.e. "banana," "hairy," "we has a peewee...")

How do you feel about the return of Menard ??

Well, since first being introduced to Menard at the old SciFilm board, I have noticed a consistent tone and intelligence in the writing.  And I also always believed Menard's vanity would not allow him, the nameless one (the beast) to not eventually come back to one of the few fertile discussion boards available.  (And they said television was a great wasteland...!!)

Menard.
The one person on this board who truly understands how I wasn't meant to be understood.

I wonder if he knows anything about OBD2 readers.

I like Menard. And his return is the best thing since sliced bread.  BounceGiggle

Yeah...that was a joke...but truth...Menard-as crazy as he is-is smart-outspoken-and always has something interesting to say...beyond the weiner jokes and sexual innuendos-(I think I actually spelled that right)
I myself-am happy to see him Back in Black!

I have a feeling some feel uneasy about his return...and feel threatened by his quasi-cult status-but I never really thought of Menard in those terms...I just see him as a nice guy with a warped sense of humor...which is a handy thing to have in hard times nowadays. I have found myself that laffing in the face of adversity is always the best way to go. And dam the torpedos.

Small | Large

(And you do know that by posting in this thread will just feed his ever-expanding ego, right? I mean...what will happen if he just starts growing and getting more powerful...like the Blob or gain control like Jan inna Pan...? Or...uhhhh....my cartoonist mind is running amuck...I'll stop now)...

I don't mind Menard when he's civil and writes well thought out threads.
But when he's trying to be an ass, it backfires.
He may write humorous posts from time to time but a legend...he is not.

I like Menard when he isn't trying to be another Andrew Dice Clay.

I am too new to posting here to remember "classic" Menard.  I started lurking around the time he first disappeared.  Some dispute over the karma system and an odd fella by the name of WyreWizard.

Since his return he's been a good poster, no doubt, if a bit provocative.  But I never quite understood his legendary status.  It seemed to me almost as if the old-timers brought up Menard and his departure as a way of bonding with each other, as an excuse to reminisce about the "good old days", more than anything.

Hope this deflates your head at least a little, Menard.

I like the way in which Menard can delicately deflate anyone who is too full of themselves, me included!

Just for the record, I am on this board just one year (my anniversary was April 10 I think).  However, I did encounter Menard in the waning months of the SciFilm board, and he brought his brand of bombast, bon mots, non sequiturs and thoughtful commentary to that site, but we had the full gambit of experience over there long before any "men - ard" showed up.  If I'm promoting a "legend" (a word I'd never choose to use in this context) it is inadvertent to my fun.

He may have a deflated head, but when it was a raisin, he shrunk out the door.  Unregistered, he remains a ghost.  Wink

Smile TeddyR Thumbup I'm glad he's back.  Cheers

I sent him an email in January this year after the good Doctor popped up again and forgot that I sent it, until I got an email from someone named ______ _____. My first reaction was "Oh hell, not another bloody enquiry!" until I realized it was from Dr. Menard. He seems like a nice guy, even wished me well and told me to take care.

I see him as my friend: I see all of you as my friends.  Smile Thumbup
