I was preparing the reels of the 1974 film
Ongewenste Vreemdeling [The Unwanted Stranger] which we will be screening soon, and was rewinding and waxing reel two when I noticed something: no colour. My first reaction was: "Damn! The colour can't have faded that badly since 1974!"
I got to the start of the reel and the tag said
Jy's Lieflik Vanaand [You're Lovely Tonight] a black and white film, made in 1962.
Now suppose, just suppose I had obeyed my bosses' orders to select one print and just take it down to Bloemfontein in July without checking it first?
