Goodfellas and Pulp fiction spring to mind, but for me there is one that sticks out, and possibly not an obvious one, but you'll know it...

"I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet...but your kids'll love it"

"Marty...that was very interesting music..."

"Let's see if you bastards can do 90. "

"don't be silly...no one has TWO TV's..."

"There's that word again; "heavy". Why are things so heavy in the future? "

"why don't you make like a tree and get outta here? "

"I'm George, George McFly. I'm your density..."

"Chuck. Chuck. It's Marvin - your cousin, Marvin BERRY."

etc, etc...

any more "quotable movies" (this topic is really cliche'd, Im sorry)

That's obviously BACK TO THE FUTURE.

I think some other very quotable movies are:

* THE GODFATHER

* ANIMAL HOUSE

* THE WIZARD OF OZ

* CADDYSHACK

Off the top of my head, I'd have to say O Brother, Where Art Thou? is the single most quotable movie I know. Tons of funny lines there.

They Live would be my runner up. Smokey and the Bandit (the original) would be high on my list as well.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail is the most quotable movie of all time!

"She's a witch!  She turned me into a newt!"
"A newt??"
"I got better!"

"She's got HUGE   . . . .  tracts of land!"

"We are the knights who say 'Ni!!!'"

"RUN AWAY!!"

"Then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade at Mine enemies, who, having been deemed naughty in my sight, shall snuff it!"

"Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!!"

Perhaps no one mentioned it yet because it's not politically correct, but what about Blazing Saddles?  My friend Mike and I can practically quote the entire movie from memory (at least the joke lines).

"Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!"   ---Just about the only family-friendly joke in the movie, which is unfortunate because unless you get the reference it's a pretty lame one

"Why do you keep using that word? I do not think it means what you think it does."

"Anybody want a peanut?"

"The king's stinking son fired me and thank you so much for bringing up such a painful memory. While you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it."

"Mawwiage."

"Rodents of Unusual Size? I don't believe they exist-BONK"

"I am the Dwead Piwate Woberts"

"Jesus, Grandpa, why'd you read me this thing!?"

*sniff*"Iocane, I'd bet my life on it."

"I'm on the brute squad." "You are the brute squad."

"Booooo, booooo, booooo!"

"And don't forget this, NEVER FORGET THIS! When I found you, you were so slobbering drunk, you couldn't buy brandy! And you. Brainless, helpless, hopeless! Do you want me to send you back to where you were? Unemployed, in Greenland?"

and of course:
"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

Lagomorphs: menace or underutilized resource?

« Reply #10 on: May 11, 2008, 07:59:20 AM »

For me, the two most quotable movies are Monty Python and the Holy Grail, as has been mentioned, and Strange Brew. In college, some guys were watching SB, and they kicked me out because I was reciting the dialogue along with the movie. I just couldn't help myself. Star Wars would be another; Ep. IV would be my first choice, but Empire & Jedi each have some quotable moments. To this day, whenever I am driving through an area with road construction (where the concrete barriers are up on either side of a one-lane passage), I can't help but annoy my wife with "Use the force, Luke" or some other Death Star quote.

Monty Python is high up on my list, and probably the film that I quote the most.  I also echo everyone's choices but I must add:

The Big Lebowski.

I can quote that film endlessly.  There is not a time in my house that the phone rings that I don't say "Phone's ringing dude..."

You got that right!

French Soldier: I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.

We're knights of the Round Table, we dance whene'er we're able.

We do routines and chorus scenes with footwork impec-cable, We dine well here in Camelot, we eat ham and jam and Spam a lot. /

We're knights of the Round Table, our shows are for-mi-dable. But many times we're given rhymes that are quite un-sing-able, We're opera mad in Camelot, we sing from the diaphragm a lot. /

 In war we're tough and able, Quite in-de-fa-ti-gable. Between our quests we sequin vests and impersonate Clark Gable /
 It's a busy life in Camelot

 I have to push the pram a lot.

Karma to Trekgeezer for the Camelot song. If it isn't my favourite part of that movie, it's certainly a close contender.  BounceGiggle
