I remember this from the mid to late 1970s. Saw a Japanese Shogun movie in color. He was walking in the desert and we hear he thoughts in a voice over talking about the  :question:sound of blood as it spirts from a cut jugular.

That sounds like one of the old Sho Kosugi ninja films I watched while I was in Japan, but I can't remember which one now.

Hey, teklord1!
That could be "Shogun Assassin" from 1980, it is based on the godlike Japanese manga "Lone Wolf & Cub"(highly recommended!). Thumbup
In the scene I'm thinking of, the main character meets up with three(at least) evil hat -bearing assassins in the desert. When he disposes of one of them he delivers a "perfect cut" to the neck artery which makes it whistle, as the blood squirts out. The dying chap even says(or thinks to himself) that he is honorered to be killed by such a perfect swords technique! The movie contains lots of blood and a narrative voice which might be the main characters thoughts(can't remember).  TeddyR

Thanks for the info. I picked up Shogun Assassin last night and will watch it this weekend. I was in the Navy stationed in Brunswick, Maine and I would have seen it when I was deployed in Bermuda or the Azores in 1977 or Iceland in 1979. So it could have been the Lone Wolf and Cub movies
