Eh, I've been fed plenty of stuff that was almost, but not entirely, unlike food.  Don't even mention turkeyloaf (meatloaf made with turkey).  One year, our chowhall ran out of money in late August.  To make the budget stretch, they fed us meatloaf every day until October (when they got next year's budget).  Lunch and dinner for more than a month:  turkeyloaf.  It was pretty much a soggy mass of vaguely turkey-flavored hash covered with turkey gravy.

I swore if it made an appearance at breakfast, I would snap and try to destroy the messhall on the spot.  Fortunately, that never happened.


RCMerchant, as Andrew has clearly explained to us things could always be worst.




Just to be fair those potatoes don't look to bad.

Dang, RC, that really and truly sucks.  This place won't be quite the same without you.

I was in a holding cell for 12 hours once on an unpaid ticket.  It was the Dallas county jail.  At that time Dallas was the per-capita murder capitol of the USA.  As an impressionable 20 year old being caged up with guys with visible knife scars and bullet holes cured me of my lawbreaking ways. 

I've bailed friends out of drunk tanks in rural areas, though, and those jails were a lot less frightening.

I gave my baloney sandwich away to a fellow inmate, who acted like he'd won the lottery, so I can't comment on the food.

Hope the time passes quickly and you grow stronger through this ordeal.
