I have health insurance and without it, I would probably have all of my life savings drained due to the surgeries and doctors visits that I have had to have over the course of a year and a half.

I had a good insurance plan with my job, but back in November we got bought out by another company and got a new insurance provider which is fine but I have to pay twice as much to see any Specialty Care Provider (Used to be 20 which was nice for my weekly visits to wound center and to see my plastic surgeon, but now it's 40 per visit.)

I saw this thing on telly a while back.  Somewhere in the US is a medical clinic where they post the prices of their procedures on a board, like a menu at a fast food restaurant.  Apparently, it really helps when it comes to what procedures patients need doing because it gives them more control over their lives.

And one large supermarket has used them as their health care provider and is paying for it all, but the staff are healthier and less likely to need medical intervention because of it.

Sounds like a great idea to me.
