British comedies are always hit or miss with me. I love Monty Python and Mr. Bean, but I hate Shaun of the Dead And The Faulty Towers. My friend showed me this one knowing that I'm this way about british comedy and insisted that I'd like it.

Well.....I dunno about this one.

Here, watch the trailer so you can get the jist of the plot.

Alright. Now remember the guy who was tripping out because he took some halucinigenic drug by accident? He was hilarious. BUT, he was the ONLY hilarious thing in the movie. Everything else was pretty dry. If the movie was about that guy the whole time, it would've been great, but its still a good plot without the guy. I dunno. Go watch it.

You actually describe why I like this movie. It portrays a very british-stiff (to a non-british thinking stereotypically, that is) occasion interspersed with tiny specks of chaos and confusion. I especially liked it because it is not too over-the-top, but not as "well-behaved" as "Four weddings and a funeral". And it has no Andie McDowell and Hugh Grant - big plus!

I have yet to see this one eventhough the general word on it was good.  In all actuality it is not really a British film but was actually American made.  Frank Oz directed it.

My main interest in the film is Alan Tudyk who is one of my favorite people out there working today.  Ever since Firefly, the guy has been on my radar.

No question:
Laughed my butt off -- spewed drink from my nose more than once -- actually laughed myself to exhaustion at one point.
I won't call it the Perfect British Comedy, but it comes damn close for my money.  Terrific irony that it's directed by a Yank!!

DEATH AT A FUNERAL (2007) - Fun British comedy. Chaos breaks out at a funeral. This film has one of my pet peeves and that is of British characters cursing. Growing up we get the impressing that the Brits are above all that, but over the years we have been seeing all the British genres picking up the bad language from Horror, Action, and now Comedy. It turns me off. Well, when things start happening you forget about the early dialogue. Besides that the film starts out ok as the film sets up the the event and introduce us to all the characters and then the fun begins. Check it out.

(8 Out Of 10 Stars) Is there and American equivalent?
