Drum Corps season has just begun on the 21st of June which will conclude on Labor Day for DCA and the first week of August for DCI. We went to Wildwood, New Jersey to see a good early season show. For Dennis and Raffine who know a bit about this activity, and Derf who recently picked up a trumpet. Here was the line up Saturday night:

Hawthorne Caballeros Alumni (In Exhibition)

DCA

Reading Buccaneers
Hawthorne Caballeros
Bushwackers
Fusion Core

DCI

Jersey Surf (In Exhibition)

Crossmen Xtreme (mini corps) (In Exhibition)

Here my latest video which also includes Western Movie Photo Trivia for those interested. Can you name all 12 Western films?

I also put together another video with a few of the corps moments that I was able to capture.

Lagomorphs: menace or underutilized resource?

Nice videos, Conan!

I'll take the easy one of your photo trivia: #3 is Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid.

And #12 is Tombstone.

I think #8 is The Shootist, but I may be getting it mixed up.

And #1 is 100 Rifles.

Thanks for the preview videos, Conan. I've already got my tickets for the big corps show they have in Murfreesboro at the end of July.

We have a DCA (that's drum corps for adults) corps in Nashville called Music City Legend that I've been tempted to join the brass line on either baritone or mellophone, but laziness and lingering bad memories of swelteringly hot marching band practices has so far won out. I have a good friend here who marched with The Reading Buccaneers a few years ago, and each year we dare each other to explore joining up with the local group. So far no dice.

I'm happy playing sitting down these days, thank you.

Almost all westerns look alike to me, so I'll have to pass on this quiz.  TeddyR

A lot of the pix are from Westerns that do look alike.  Except, of course, SHANE which doesn't look like any other Western...
Well, I'm glad to see one of my favorite Westerns included: MY DARLING CLEMENTINE.  What a great film.
I recently sat thru THE SHOOTIST and was stunned by JOHN WAYNE's interesting and touching last performance.

Nice videos, Conan!

Thanks, Derf I'm not sure where in Texas you live, but if you can get to San Antonio on July 19th you can see one of the really big shows in the Alamo Dome this Summer.

Murfreesboro is one of the big shows. World Championships are in Bloomington, IN this year. Might be close to you Raffine.

These are extra ordinary people who have dedication and talent practicing from sun-up to sundown all Summer. Raffine how far are you from the practice area of Music City Legend? DCA shows are pretty good around August. If you join up with Music City Legend it may make them more competitive and give the South better DCA shows in the future playing along with Corps Vets and Carolina Gold.

Wow JJ80 you got 9 out of 10 correct. Try again on number #2. It's a rather recent Western. Anyone who has seen Companeros and the rest of this selection is "ok" in my book.

I think that No.2 is actually "The Missing".

Thumbup Thumbup

Great job, those were tough photos from the Westerns they belonged to. Well, I'm going to have to do another Western one some day. Making them tougher to guess.

Also if anyone is interested in seeing the first video in high definition you can go to this link as Youtube gave this one a High Definition Quality option just below the video to the right.
